PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Marcel Dogg (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Anderson Lavy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Marcel Dogg!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Anderson Lavy!
The judges for this bout are Sergei Dronov, Aleksei Zolotukhin and Viktor Lagutenko.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lavy shoots in for a double leg but Dogg sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Lavy avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

Lavy pushes Dogg up against the cage in a clinch.
Lavy is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Dogg gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
With the two fighters working up against the cage, Lavy just misses with a elbow thrown towards Dogg's brow.
Lavy wants to break the clinch but can't.
Dogg goes for a takedown in the clinch but Lavy prevents it.
Dogg is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Lavy to keep the fight standing.

Marcel Dogg has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Anderson Lavy.

Dogg wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.

Lavy controls Dogg momentarily but Dogg frees himself.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Lavy is looking to stand up but Dogg isn't so interested in that idea.

Lavy wriggles free and stands up.

Lavy misses with a takedown attempt

and Dogg decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Lavy's guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Lavy keeping moving, preventing Dogg from controlling successfully.
Lavy pulls Dogg in to control the position.
Lavy looks winded!

Dogg drops back looking for a leg! Lavy is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Lavy manages to kick Dogg off! Dogg jumps back into Lavy's guard.
Dogg stops Lavy from standing up.
Lavy is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Dogg with a flurry of punches that miss.
Dogg wants to pass the guard but Lavy is keeping the position.
Lavy is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Dogg is controlling him.
Dogg trying to control the position from guard on top but Lavy is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Dogg could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Marcel Dogg wasn't doing enough on the ground.
Lavy shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Dogg as he avoids it easily.

Lavy dips to his left and cracks Dogg with an uppercut!
Dogg scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.
Lavy misses with a takedown attempt - Dogg sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Dogg fails with an attempt to clinch.

Lavy clinches.
Lavy wants to take the fight to the mat but Dogg manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.
Dogg jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Lavy walks away with a smile on his face. Dogg gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Dogg moves in looking to clinch but Lavy pushes him off.
Lavy finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.
Dogg looks for a takedown but Lavy sprawls well.
Lavy tries to clinch but Dogg is having none of it.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Anderson Lavy will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Lavy shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Dogg sprawls well. Dogg wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Lavy gets slowly back to his feet.
Marcel Dogg is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Lavy closes the distance and clinches.
Dogg jumps guard but Lavy turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.
The two fighters are working to gain dominance in the clinch.

Dogg decides to pull guard.

Dogg manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Dogg scores with a couple of good head shots there.

Lavy is flailing around like a fish out of water, trying to land strikes.
Dogg throwing sloppy strikes, which aren't doing any damage.
Dogg thowing strikes but they're hitting the gloves, not doing any damage.
Dogg looking to control but Lavy is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Lavy is wriggling around trying to escape.
Dogg throwing shots from mount but they're not landing.
Lavy is trying to escape the mount.
Dogg trying to control but he's not successful this time.

Dogg avoids the attempt from Lavy to control.
Dogg throwing strikes here but Lavy is writhing around nicely and avoiding any serious damage.
Lavy really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
Lavy swinging wildly from the bottom but he's not landing.
Dogg trying to control but he's not successful this time.

Dogg wants to finish this one by submission but Lavy is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Dogg.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Lavy can't escape the position.
Dogg controlling his opponent.

Lavy defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Dogg.

Dogg wants to control the pace but Lavy is squirming around nicely.
Lavy is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Dogg trying to control but Lavy is having none of it.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Marcel Dogg dominated that second round.
That's time! Dogg's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.


Dogg tries to clinch but Lavy is having none of it.
Dogg throws a series of punches but Lavy moves out of range.
Lavy stuffs the takedown attempt from Dogg. Dogg gets slowly back to his feet.
Lavy will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Dogg tries to close the distance and clinch up but Lavy swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Lavy scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!
Nice takedown defense from Lavy. No joy for Dogg on that attempt.

Lavy closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Lavy blocks an uppercut.

Lavy pulls guard successfully.
Dogg passes Lavy's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Lavy is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Dogg's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Dogg's back!
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Dogg defending nicely against the rear naked choke attempt.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Lavy is remaining active here, looking for the choke. The more discerning members of the crowd will appreciate his efforts.

Lavy is working really hard to secure the rear naked choke. Dogg defends successfully for a significant amount of time. Both fighters are looking very determined.
Lavy misses with punches from the back.
Lavy is trying to stick to Dogg's back but Dogg is turning into Lavy. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Lavy's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Dogg.

Dogg might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

Dogg thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Lavy wants to sweep but no luck.
Lavy is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.

Dogg drops back looking for a leg! Lavy is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Lavy manages to kick Dogg off! Dogg jumps back into Lavy's guard.
Lavy controls Dogg momentarily but Dogg frees himself.

Lavy is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Dogg is aware though and is defending well.

And that's the end of the fight!
Anderson Lavy comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Lavy has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
