Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jim Young!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Bob Swarner!
The judges for this bout are David Schapiro, Chad Campbell and Jorge Garcia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Swarner defending well as Young loads up on a big left hand.
Young misses with a hook
and Swarner connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Young rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Swarner counters with a two punch combo.
Young shoots in looking for a takedown but Swarner manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Young's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Young fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Young misses with an uppercut.
Swarner tries to close the distance and clinch but Young swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Young slips a jab and a cross from Swarner.

Young fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Swarner to the ground. Young is now in Swarner's guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Young connects with a couple of short punches.
Swarner really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Young. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Young is really struggling to control Swarner but he's trying to hold on to the position.

Young has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Young drops back looking for a leg! Swarner is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Swarner manages to kick Young off! Young jumps back into Swarner's guard.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Swarner can do anything to dispel that myth.

Young is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Young trying to control but Swarner is working from the bottom.

Swarner has momentary wrist control but Young slips an elbow through the middle.
Young tries to free his leg and advance position but Swarner is retaining full guard.

Young drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Young jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Young pushes down on Swarner's leg and manages to get into half guard.

Young is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Young throws a series of punches but Swarner avoids them all with ease.

and Swarner takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

No joy there for Swarner, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Young throws out a loose jab but Swarner uses good head movement to avoid it.
Young misses with a looping left.
Swarner swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Swarner thows a body shot but no joy.
Swarner ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Swarner fails to land with a series of punches.
Swarner slips a straight right by Young.
Young misses with a right hand
and Swarner counters with a lovely shot to the body.
Young drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.

A jab from Young misses.
Swarner rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Young moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Swarner moves out of range as Young strikes.
Swarner misses with a few strikes there.
Young throws a hook but Swarner avoids it easily.
Jim Young seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Swarner misses with a series of wild punches.
Young misses the shot to the body.

Swarner stuffs the takedown attempt from Young. Young gets slowly back to his feet.
Young throws a right and a left that Swarner avoids nicely.
Swarner uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Young.
Swarner looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Swarner is looking to clinch.
Young fails with a takedown attempt.
Swarner throws a right and a left that both miss.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Swarner takes a swing at Young's ribcage but misses.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Young.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jim Young. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Young shoots in looking for a takedown. Swarner tries to sprawl out of it but Young keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Swarner manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Swarner fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Bob Swarner showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! And we move into the final round!


Swarner scores with a one two! Young had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.
Swarner tries to clinch up but Young circles away and keeps his distance.

Swarner lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.
Young looks to throw the jab but Swarner is out of range.
Swarner displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Young throws out the jab.
Young shoots for a double leg takedown but Swarner sprawls well. He's pushed Young's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Horrible takedown by Young or perhaps it was just good defense by Swarner which made him look bad.

Swarner throws a series of strikes that have Young backpedaling.
Swarner walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
Swarner misses with a body shot.

Young uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Swarner.
Swarner lands with an overhand left.
Swarner is throwing a lot of body shots here, looking to wear down Young rather than just go for the knockout.

Swarner looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Swarner throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Young stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Swarner keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Swarner tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Swarner moves out of range as Young strikes.
Young shoots in but Swarner avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Young throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Swarner's waist but Swarner gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Young off to one side.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Swarner stuffs the takedown attempt from Young. Young gets slowly back to his feet.
Young throws a leg kick
and Swarner counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Swarner takes one to the side of the head.
Young tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Swarner was well out of range. Poor timing from Young.
Young shoots in for a takedown but Swarner shows good takedown defense.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Swarner buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Young throws a series of punches but Swarner avoids them all with ease.

And that's the end of the fight!
Bob Swarner comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Swarner has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
