Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Lou Ferrigno (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tanishk Soni (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Man, I cannot wait for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Lou Ferrigno!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 22 - 18 - 1, fighting out of Los Angeles, Tanishk Soni!
The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, Don Winkell and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Soni gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Soni lands a hook to the side of the head.
Ferrigno has Soni pressed against the cage, preventing Soni from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
The two fighters are working to gain dominance in the clinch.
Soni throws a head punch that misses.

Soni's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Ferrigno lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Soni backs up against the cage.


It looks like Tanishk Soni has been cut.
Jab by Soni.
Ferrigno throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Soni moves into range and clinches up with Ferrigno.
Ferrigno stalling here - the referee won't stand for too much of that.
Ferrigno tries a body shot but Soni blocks it.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Ferrigno is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Soni is defending well.
Ferrigno is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.
Soni is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Ferrigno pulls him back up using the underhooks.
A short right hand to the side of the head by Soni.

Soni's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Ferrigno looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Soni is fending him off so far but Ferrigno persists. Nope, Soni circles away and we're back to standing.

Ferrigno throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Soni tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Ferrigno is in Soni's guard.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.

Ferrigno drops back looking for a leg! Soni is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Soni manages to kick Ferrigno off! Ferrigno jumps back into Soni's guard.
Ferrigno trying to control the position from guard on top but Soni is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Ferrigno advances to half guard.

Ferrigno is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Ferrigno controlling the action here.

Soni is defending against the submission attempts here by Ferrigno.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Ferrigno looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.
Soni tries to get to full guard but Ferrigno has control of the leg.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Soni is doing well to avoid being mounted. He's controlling the position at the moment.

Ferrigno is working for a submission of some sort.

Ferrigno is trying to work for a kimura but Soni is defending well.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Ferrigno looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Lou Ferrigno dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Tanishk Soni's cut.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Soni lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.
Ferrigno throws a series of punches but Soni avoids them all with ease.
Ferrigno will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Ferrigno misses with a takedown attempt - Soni sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Ferrigno shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Soni defends it nicely.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Lou Ferrigno. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Ferrigno tries to score a power double leg takedown but Soni sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Ferrigno somewhat.
Soni tries to clinch up but Ferrigno circles away and keeps his distance.

Ferrigno closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Soni quickly recovers to half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Soni is defending against the submission attempts here by Ferrigno.

Ferrigno is trying to advance to mount but he's lost his balance and Soni reverses the position - he's now on top in Ferrigno's guard.
Ferrigno manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!

Ferrigno jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Soni is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Soni and Ferrigno has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.

Ferrigno thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Ferrigno is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Soni knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Ferrigno working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.

Ferrigno goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Soni has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Ferrigno but great work by Soni.

Ferrigno has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Soni has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!

Ferrigno had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Soni defends it easily.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!

Ferrigno is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Soni is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Soni has escaped and now he's on top!

Soni got a little sloppy there for a moment and Ferrigno has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Soni has managed to get both his arms back between Ferrigno's legs - danger averted.

Ferrigno is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Soni is aware though and is defending well.
Lou Ferrigno overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Ferrigno looking to hit a scissor sweep but Soni is one step ahead there.

Ferrigno is looking to stand up but Soni isn't so interested in that idea.
Soni engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.

Ferrigno is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

Tanishk Soni has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Ferrigno is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Soni is controlling him.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Soni not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Tanishk Soni hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.

Soni pushes Ferrigno up against the cage in a clinch.

Ferrigno blocks a couple of punches on the inside.
Soni lands a knee to the head there! That was nasty!

Soni manages to break the clinch.
Soni tries to close the distance and clinch up but Ferrigno swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Soni tries to clinch but Ferrigno moves out of range.

Ferrigno feints and as Soni raises his hands in defense, Ferrigno changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Ferrigno wants to hit a switch here but Soni passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Ferrigno there!
This has been an exciting period of action!
Soni prevents Ferrigno from getting the reversal.
Soni won't let Ferrigno get back to his feet... He wants to keep the fight where it is for now.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Ferrigno is desperately trying to improve his position but Soni has a good base and remains in mount.
Ferrigno regains half guard.

And that's the end of the fight!
Lou Ferrigno showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Ferrigno, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
