Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Chavo Chavelito (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Alik Balvanik (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Balvanik's choice of entrance music: the eye of tiger. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Chavo Chavelito!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Alik Balvanik!
The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, Chris Downing and Robert Twigg.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Chavelito misses with a takedown
and Balvanik counters with a nice double leg into side control. Chavelito won't be happy with that.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Balvanik wants to control but Chavelito is keeping him busy.
Chavelito can't do much from the bottom here.
Chavelito tries to slip a leg under to move to half guard but Balvanik presses down on the leg and jumps into full mount!
Chavelito wants to control but Balvanik is having none of it.
Chavelito is in a bad position, trying to hold on for dear life but he is really struggling to maintain any sort of control.

Balvanik lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Balvanik has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Chavelito's face.
Balvanik jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Chavelito is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Chavelito and Balvanik has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Balvanik postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Chavelito looks a forlorn figure.
Chavelito is squirming around, avoiding Balvanik's attempts to control the action.
Balvanik might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Chavelito kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

Balvanik is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Chavelito has managed to escape the submission attempt.

Balvanik shoots in and drives through. Chavelito sprawls well.

Chavo Chavelito seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Chavelito has taken the fight to the clinch.
Balvanik tries to pull guard but Chavelito holds him up against the cage and eventually Balvanik drops back down to his feet.

Balvanik pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Chavelito looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Balvanik is fending him off so far but Chavelito persists. Nope, Balvanik circles away and we're back to standing.

The referee calls for Balvanik to work.
Balvanik's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Chavelito fails to land the takedown.
Chavelito shoots for a takedown but Balvanik saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Chavo Chavelito. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Balvanik gets caught flat footed, as Chavelito shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Chavelito tries to free his leg and advance position but Balvanik is retaining full guard.
Chavelito has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Balvanik is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Chavelito defends it well.

A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Chavelito.
Chavelito tries to score a power double leg takedown but Balvanik sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Chavelito somewhat.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Chavelito throws out a leg kick but Balvanik moves out of range and Chavelito only half commits.
Chavelito tries to close the distance and clinch up but Balvanik swats him away and circles back towards the center.
