Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Gio Warriors (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mauricio Shogun (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Warriors comes to the cage accompanied by Metalingus-Alter Bridge. Mauricio Shogun is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Gio Warriors! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Mauricio Shogun! The judges for this bout are Felipe Paraventi, Edson Gomes and Emerson Jorge.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Shogun wants to clinch but Warriors slips to the side so Warriors counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility. The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up. Shogun can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Warriors controls the pace. Warriors might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Shogun is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Warriors is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions. Warriors stands and throws Shogun's legs to the side, diving into side control. Shogun wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done! The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Shogun is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first. Shogun tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Warriors wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's one minute gone in the round. Shogun manages to get one leg in to regain half guard. Warriors keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action. Warriors seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Shogun for as long as he can get away with. Warriors is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount! Warriors landing strikes from the mount and Shogun is in trouble! Shogun is looking to improve his position but Warriors isn't that keen on the idea. Warriors is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Shogun can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Warriors content just to control the position here. Shogun defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Warriors. Shogun gets back to half guard. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Warriors not doing much here.
Shogun wants to improve his position but Warriors is controlling well.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Shogun has hold of Warriors's hands but Warriors slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow. Shogun looking for submissions from an awkward position here. Warriors controlling the pace. Shogun is trying to stand up here but Warriors is controlling him well. Warriors seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense. Warriors escapes and gets back to his feet. Mauricio Shogun seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Shogun gets a clinch. With the two fighters working up against the cage, Shogun just misses with a elbow thrown towards Warriors's brow. Warriors tries to pull guard but Shogun holds him up against the cage and eventually Warriors drops back down to his feet.
Warriors tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Shogun just stands there and leans against the cage. Warriors drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Shogun gets the underhooks and prevents it.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Gio Warriors. That's going to take a lot out of him. Warriors is breathing heavily. Shogun stalling in the clinch but Warriors improves position. Shogun connects with a nasty looking knee right to Warriors's face.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Shogun lands a knee to the head there! That was nasty!
A battle for position here, against the cage. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Warriors is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Shogun pulls him back up using the underhooks. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Gio Warriors dominated that round. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.
Warriors circles away from the clinch attempt.
Shogun tries to clinch up and Warriors counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Shogun's guard now. Shogun working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Warriors doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Warriors manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Shogun not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Warriors sitting in guard here, content to control. Warriors has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Shogun looking for a guillotine here but Warriors defends easily.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Shogun is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.
That's one minute gone in the round. Shogun has had enough of the clinch but Warriors keeps him there for the moment. Warriors tries to pull guard but Shogun forces him back to his feet, against the cage. Shogun escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Shogun tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Warriors manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. Shogun fails with the takedown and Warriors counters with a nice double leg into half guard. Shogun looking for submissions off his back. Shogun is breathing heavily. Warriors works his way into full mount!
That's two minutes gone in the round. Warriors landing strikes, looking to finish! Warriors sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Shogun is trying to get back to his feet but can't. Shogun is working to get back to half guard.
Shogun tries to hold on but Warriors postures up.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Warriors controlling the pace for now. Shogun wants to control but Warriors is having none of it. Warriors controlling the pace for now. Warriors looking to control but Shogun is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Shogun flailing away with punches but nothing is landing.
Warriors avoids the attempt from Shogun to control. Shogun is looking to improve his position but Warriors isn't that keen on the idea. Shogun is trying to get back to his feet but can't. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Warriors controlling the pace for now. Warriors prevents Shogun from getting the reversal. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close second round but I would say that Gio Warriors will probably get the nod. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!
Shogun fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Warriors avoids it really well and circles away. Warriors clinches with his opponent.
Shogun is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage. Warriors tries for a takedown. No joy.

Shogun shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Warriors but Warriors pushes him off and we're back to square one. Shogun shoots in for a double leg but Warriors sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Gio Warriors has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Mauricio Shogun. Warriors shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Shogun takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Warriors frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
That's one minute gone in the round. Shogun tries to get back to half guard but can't. Warriors content just to control the position here. Warriors scoring with strikes but Shogun is staying in there. Shogun can't escape the position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Warriors stands up from mount. Strange move. Shogun tries to clinch and Warriors counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Shogun! The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Warriors tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. Warriors is standing up, even though he is in mount. Shogun tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Warriors paws at him with a jab and circles away. Shogun shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Warriors sprawls well. Warriors wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Shogun gets slowly back to his feet. No luck with that takedown attempt from Shogun. Warriors shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Warriors forces his way into half guard. Warriors controlling the action here. Warriors has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent. Shogun tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land. Warriors wants to control but Shogun is keeping him busy. Shogun trying to control but Warriors postures up.
Shogun is trying to get back to full guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
We're going to have a standup here because Gio Warriors wasn't active enough for the referee's liking. Warriors blocks a head kick by Shogun.
Warriors throws a sloppy head kick and Shogun moves out of range easily. Shogun wants to clinch. Gio Warriors is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Warriors stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Warriors wants it to stay on the feet. Warriors shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Warriors showed some decent athleticism there. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Shogun is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Warriors pulls his head out easily.
And that's the end of the fight! Gio Warriors showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Warriors, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
