The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Vergara stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Vergara wants it to stay on the feet.
Orlando Vergara seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Whitehead feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Whitehead is pushing down on Vergara's leg trying to pass to half guard. Vergara is fighting to maintain full guard but Whitehead has managed to sneak the leg through.
Whitehead passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Vergara!
Vergara wants to control but Whitehead is having none of it.

Whitehead goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Vergara turns into him and now he's in Whitehead's guard.

Vergara is sitting in close to Whitehead's body. Whitehead has gone for a guillotine from the bottom. Oh damn, that looks pretty tight! Vergara is panicking - it looks like this one could be all over! Yes, Vergara is tapping! That was a very nice submission by Whitehead.
