Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Eric Ericsson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Alex Vuijsje!
The judges for this bout are Emerson Jorge, Leandro Rodrigues and Luis Engracia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Ericsson gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Ericsson looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this!

Vuijsje is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Vuijsje must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Ericsson really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Vuijsje shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Vuijsje showed some decent athleticism there.

Vuijsje uses his free foot to push down on Ericsson's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Ericsson.

Vuijsje wants to take Ericsson's back here but Ericsson is holding on to an arm, himself looking to escape.

Vuijsje is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Ericsson can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
Ericsson wants to hold on but Vuijsje pushes him away.
Ericsson is looking to improve his position but Vuijsje isn't that keen on the idea.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Vuijsje with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.
Ericsson is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Ericsson takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.

Vuijsje has control of Ericsson's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Ericsson regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Ericsson tries to hold on but Vuijsje pushes him away.

Vuijsje has hold of Ericsson's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Ericsson manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Vuijsje thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Vuijsje sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Ericsson's guard.
Ericsson wants to control but Vuijsje is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Vuijsje is looking to advance position but Ericsson won't allow it.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Vuijsje is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Ericsson is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Vuijsje is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

Ericsson is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Vuijsje's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Vuijsje's back!

Ericsson will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Ericsson's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Vuijsje feints and as Ericsson raises his hands in defense, Vuijsje changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Well Vuijsje has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
