The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Santos lands a jab-cross combination.

Smith throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Santos tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Smith is in Santos's guard.

Smith got a little sloppy there for a moment and Santos has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Smith has managed to get both his arms back between Santos's legs - danger averted.

We're going to have a standup here because Wade Smith wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Santos tries to close the distance and clinch but Smith swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Smith closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Santos to the mat! Santos manages to get full guard.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Smith is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Santos is just riding it out for now. Smith eventually gives up the hold.
Smith wants to free his trapped foot but Santos is holding on for dear life with his legs.
