3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Brock Barnett! The judges for this bout are Jonathan Paton, Jorge Garcia and Alyssa Summers.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Barnett takes one on the button. Spartilius looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this! Barnett slips under a jab. Spartilius gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Barnett counters with a takedown into side control. Barnett looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything. Barnett working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. Barnett is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Spartilius has escaped the position, nice work there. Barnett is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Spartilius is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Spartilius is trying to control Barnett's posture but Barnett avoids it. Barnett with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Barnett looking for a guillotine from mount but Spartilius is having none of it. Barnett is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Spartilius has managed to escape the submission attempt.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Brock Barnett dominated that round. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!
Barnett instigates a clinch. Barnett is pressed up against the cage. Spartilius has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Barnett down to the mat. Barnett avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance. Spartilius lands a nice shot that snaps Barnett's head back.
Spartilius looks to score with a jab to the body but Barnett is just out of range. Barnett misses with a two punch combination.
Barnett has taken the fight to the clinch.
Come on Barnett - let's have some action - none of this stalling nonsense.
The crowd are getting on Barnett's back here. They're not happy about his lack of aggression in the clinch. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

It will also be interesting to see what tactics Spartilius uses from the top position. Barnett escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Spartilius loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Barnett is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Barnett has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Spartilius can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Spartilius throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Barnett works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Barnett wants to sweep but no luck.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Barnett is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Barnett working for a triangle but Spartilius defends it easily.
Barnett is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Spartilius is aware though and is defending well. Spartilius distracts Barnett with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm. Brock Barnett has got the better of the ground game so far. Barnett is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Barnett has thrown up a leg looking for a triangle. Spartilius doesn't defend quickly enough and Barnett has managed to lock this one up! Can Spartilius escape?! NO! He's tapping out! Damn, that was a quick submission - congrats to Barnett on a fantastic submission victory.
