Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Merle Medieval (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Benjamin Alex (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Medieval kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Promises. Benjamin Alex has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Merle Medieval's chin.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Medieval scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Alex desperately trying to maintain half guard.

Medieval knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Alex on the ground.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Medieval shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Alex lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Alex.
Alex dives in and grabs Medieval's left leg, looking for a takedown. Medieval pushes down on Alex's head and hops out.
Merle Medieval has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Benjamin Alex.
Medieval wants to clinch.
Merle Medieval is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Alex shoots for a double leg takedown but Medieval sprawls well. He's pushed Alex's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Medieval shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Alex as he jumps to the side.
Alex looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.

Medieval closes the distance and clinches up with Alex, looking for a takedown. Medieval pushes Alex against the cage but Alex circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

That was a close second round but I would say that Merle Medieval will probably get the nod.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!

enabling Alex to counter with a crisp jab.
Medieval changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Alex tries to avoid it but Medieval manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Alex to the ground. Alex escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Medieval's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Alex shoots in and drives through. Medieval sprawls well.
Medieval turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.
Medieval tries to grapple but his opponent circles
and Alex holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Medieval misses with a body punch.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Alex throws a hook to the body. More of an arm punch but it's all scoring with the judges.
Medieval is trying to pull guard but Alex has him pressed against the cage.
Alex has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Medieval uses from the top position.
Alex trying to strike from the bottom but really, it's not the best position to be doing that from!

Medieval working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Medieval in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Alex has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Medieval off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.

Alex gets underhooks to prevent Medieval's takedown attempt.

Medieval fails to pull the fight into his guard.

The referee calls for Alex to work.
Medieval swings wildly with an uppercut but Alex uses good head movement to avoid it.

Alex stalling against the cage.
Medieval wants to take the fight to the mat but Alex manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.
Medieval keeps control of Alex as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Alex decides to pull guard.
Alex manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Alex sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it!

Alex is working for a guillotine from mount but Medieval frees his head quite easily.
Medieval is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Alex unloads with some shots from mount but Medieval bucks and avoids them well.

Medieval blocking the ground and pound.
Alex is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Medieval to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Medieval shrugs it off.
Alex thowing strikes but they're hitting the gloves, not doing any damage.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Alex takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Benjamin Alex comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Alex has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
