PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Johny Slicer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Eric Cooke (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Slicer kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Vader -Silent Empire. Cooke is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Inner Heat & Atmozfears - Distortion Fields. Eric Cooke struggled to make weight for this fight. He only made it down to 266.1lbs at the first attempt and had to take the additional two hours to make the official bout weight. Let's see how much it's taken out of him. Eric Cooke acknowledges the crowd's support as he enters the cage.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Eric Cooke!
The judges for this bout are Paul Aken, Wagner Zegers and Radbod Blank.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Slicer thumps Cooke with a low kick.
Cooke checks a leg kick.
Cooke scores with a jab to the jaw.
Slicer throws a sloppy head kick

so Cooke counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Cooke throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Slicer looking to hit a scissor sweep but Cooke is one step ahead there.
Cooke has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Slicer is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Cooke controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Slicer is trying to control the position but Cooke postures up.

Cooke wants to pass the guard but Slicer is keeping the position.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Cooke accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Cooke stays in close to Slicer's body and controls the position.
Slicer knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Cooke on the ground.
Cooke in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Slicer is trying to control the position but Cooke postures up.

Cooke controls the pace of the fight for a moment.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Johny Slicer just wasn't active enough.

Johny Slicer is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Cooke blocks a leg kick.
Slicer doesn't manage to clinch there - Cooke circles away.
Johny Slicer seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
A head kick misses from Slicer.

Cooke is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Slicer's half guard.

Slicer is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Slicer on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Slicer tries to get out of the position.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Cooke connects with a nice short shot to Slicer's temple.
Cooke not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Cooke is pressing down on Slicer's thigh, looking to free his foot. Slicer is holding on for now.

Slicer holds on for dear life, maintaining half guard for now.

Cooke takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.

Cooke throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Cooke cracks Slicer with a big head shot that has him covering up instantly! He's rolled onto his side and the referee has seen enough - this one is aaaaaaaaaaall over!

An out of breath Eric Cooke thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
