PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Rio Bignog (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Neo Trinity (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The key to victory for Rio Bignog has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Rio Bignog!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Neo Trinity!
The judges for this bout are Seu Braga, Emerson Jorge and Thiago Cunha.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Trinity shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Bignog as he avoids it easily.
Bignog looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this!
Bignog throws a left and a right that both miss

and Trinity moves into the clinch.

Trinity lands a nice trip takedown into half guard.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Bignog keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Trinity tries to pass to full mount but Bignog defends it.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Trinity is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Trinity is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

Trinity is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Bignog doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Trinity.
Trinity throwing shots but Bignog is blocking nicely.

Bignog keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Trinity trying to mount his opponent but Bignog defends it.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Trinity passes to side control.
Bignog is trying to control Trinity's posture but Trinity avoids it.
Bignog stops Trinity from passing to mount.

Trinity looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
Bignog regains half guard, as Trinity was trying to land strikes.
Bignog trying to control but Trinity postures up.
Bignog is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Trinity is looking for a kimura here.

Trinity tries to pass to full mount but Bignog defends it.
Bignog is refusing to be controlled, as Trinity sits in half guard.
Trinity works his way into full mount!
Bignog can't escape the position.

Trinity looking for a guillotine from mount but Bignog is having none of it.

Bignog wants to hold on but Trinity pushes him away.

Trinity working for a submission but Bignog is keeping him at bay.
Trinity throws a wild left hand from mount and Bignog manages to wriggle his way back to half guard.

Trinity is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Trinity wants to control but Bignog is keeping him busy.

Trinity is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Bignog defends it well.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Neo Trinity dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.



Bignog decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

Bignog swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

Bignog gets a takedown into half guard.
Bignog is trying to advance to mount but he's lost his balance and Trinity reverses the position - he's now on top in Bignog's guard.

Trinity trying to control the position from guard on top but Bignog is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Trinity postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Bignog is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Trinity, into his guard.
Bignog really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Bignog working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Trinity's head.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Trinity is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Bignog lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.
Trinity is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Bignog decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Bignog throws a right and a left that both miss.
Rio Bignog is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Trinity tries to clinch up but Bignog circles away and keeps his distance.
Rio Bignog seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Trinity shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Bignog pinned against the cage. Bignog gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

and Trinity counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Trinity seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Bignog does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Trinity is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.

Trinity wants to pass to mount but Bignog is defending the position.

Trinity stands up out of the half guard.

Bignog scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Trinity regains full guard. Nicely done.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

That was a close second round but I would say that Rio Bignog will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Trinity has one of Bignog's arms on lockdown, trying to prevent him from doing any damage.

Bignog thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Bignog cracks Trinity with an elbow. That is naaassty.

Bignog tries for a kimura but Trinity is defending well.
You can see the frustration on Trinity's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Trinity isn't going anywhere.
Trinity gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.

Bignog is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Trinity sees it coming and defends easily.
Bignog thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.

Bignog is trying to work for a kimura but Trinity is defending well.
Trinity trying to control from the bottom.
Bignog tries to stand and escape but Trinity is controlling the position.
Trinity gets back to full guard.
Trinity bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Bignog's guard.
Bignog throwing some rather feeble looking strikes off his back.
Trinity slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

Bignog keeping moving, preventing Trinity from controlling successfully.

Trinity is looking to work some ground and pound but Bignog has wrist control.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Neo Trinity hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Bignog throws a right and a left that Trinity avoids nicely.

Trinity shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Trinity showed some decent athleticism there.

Trinity is working for a kimura but Bignog is defending it quite comfortably.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Bignog is refusing to be controlled, as Trinity sits in half guard.
Trinity is controlling the pace.
Trinity trying to control the action but Bignog is working from the bottom.

And that's the end of the fight!
Neo Trinity comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Trinity has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
