Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, for the welterweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
6 - 3 - 1, fighting out of Tokyo, Taz Fodido! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Lucas Chavalier! The judges for this bout are Yuuki Gou, Ren Mimura and Hirohito Nitta.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Chavalier misses with the combination.
Fodido tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Chavalier swivels and escapes. Fodido looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard. Fodido throwing shots but Chavalier is blocking nicely. Fodido moves into side control, avoiding the strikes from Chavalier.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring. Fodido throwing shots but missing, from side control. Fodido has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand. Fodido scores a takedown into full mount! Fodido can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Chavalier is looking to escape.
That's one minute gone in the round. Chavalier is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.
Fodido stands up from mount. Strange move. Chavalier throws a wild combination but nothing lands. Fodido fails in his attempt to clinch. Taz Fodido seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Fodido looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Chavalier is fending him off so far but Fodido persists. Nope, Chavalier circles away and we're back to standing. Chavalier stuffs the takedown. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Taz Fodido. That's going to take a lot out of him. Fodido closes the distance and clinches up with Chavalier, looking for a takedown. Fodido pushes Chavalier against the ropes but Chavalier circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Fodido is breathing heavily. Fodido misses with a head kick.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Fodido throws a nice inside leg kick. Fodido shoots for a double leg takedown but Chavalier sprawls well. He's pushed Fodido's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Fodido fails to land the takedown. It's a brutal combination of punches from Chavalier! Fodido is backing up but he can't get away as Chavalier lands with one final shot to the jaw that drops Fodido and ends the fight. Great knockout.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:22 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punches). Lucas Chavalier! Lucas Chavalier is the new welterweight champion!
