Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Daniel Cormier (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Leonard Santos (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Santos is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Metallica - Whiskey In The Jar. Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the fighters buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Daniel Cormier! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
6 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Leonard Santos! The judges for this bout are Seu Braga, Mauricio Rocha and Edson Gomes.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Cormier works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance. Excellent takedown into side control there by Cormier. The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet. Santos is trying to improve his position. Santos is persisting with the attempt to improve his position. Cormier looking to punish the body of his opponent here but Santos is avoiding damage well.
Cormier lands a nice forearm strike. Cormier scoring with punches from side control. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Cormier trying to control the action but Santos is working from the bottom. Santos is looking to regain half guard here but Cormier keeps moving and retains side control. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Santos can do anything to dispel that myth. Santos manages to get back to half guard. Santos won't allow Cormier to pass to mount.

Cormier is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Santos is just riding it out for now. Cormier eventually gives up the hold. Cormier missing with some ground and pound from the half guard. Santos keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound. Santos wants to control but Cormier is keeping busy and won't allow it. Cormier is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Santos is just riding it out for now. Cormier eventually gives up the hold. Santos really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Cormier. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Cormier throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man. Santos wants to improve his position but Cormier is controlling well.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Cormier wants to free his trapped foot but Santos is holding on for dear life with his legs. Santos wants to control but Cormier passes into side.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Cormier looking to punish the body of his opponent here but Santos is avoiding damage well.

Cormier creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots. Cormier throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage. Santos tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Cormier wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Santos tries to get back to half guard but can't. Cormier scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Santos to see if he's OK. Santos tries to improve position but can't. Cormier cracks Santos with an elbow. That is naaassty. Santos is positioning himself to get back to half guard. Cormier scores with punches from side control. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Cormier content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though. Cormier throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage. That's four minutes gone in the round. Santos taking a bit of punishment here - Cormier scoring with strikes. Santos is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Cormier's leg. He's managed it. Nice work. Cormier seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Santos does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. Cormier looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Santos with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position. Cormier is looking for a kimura here.
Cormier slips a nice elbow through Santos's hands, connecting with Santos's forehead. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Cormier wants to control but Santos is keeping him busy. Cormier has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Cormier is really struggling to control Santos but he's trying to hold on to the position. Cormier takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Cormier looking to score a takedown here. Santos is defending well but Cormier drives through and ends up in Santos's guard. Santos avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Cormier in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Cormier preventing the sweep. Both fighters really going for it on the ground here! Cormier postures up and lands a big shot to Santos's brow. Santos trying to keep a closed guard but Cormier is proving a slippery customer.

That's one minute gone in the round. Santos is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Cormier punching from the bottom.
Still in half guard, Santos seems content to control. Cormier might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Cormier avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Santos. Santos not throwing his punches with enough precision this time. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Santos slips a nice elbow through Cormier's hands, connecting with Cormier's forehead. Santos is keen to just control but Cormier is a slippery customer. Daniel Cormier overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Cormier is looking to improve his position.
Santos is taking a breather. Cormier says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

Cormier changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Santos tries to avoid it but Cormier manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Santos to the ground. Santos stalks Cormier and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Cormier's face. Cormier staggers backwards, shaken.
It looks like Daniel Cormier has been cut. Cormier tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Santos was well out of range. Poor timing from Cormier. Cormier thows a body shot but no joy. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Cormier lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Cormier scores with a hook to the body. Santos takes a step back and tries to catch his breath. Nice shot lands for Cormier.
It looks like Leonard Santos has been cut.
That's one minute gone in the round. Santos gets caught napping as Cormier dives in and scores a takedown. Santos manages to retain guard. Santos trying to control the position.
Santos is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully. Cormier working some strikes from top position. Cormier advances position into side control! Cormier throwing shots but missing, from side control. Cormier is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Santos can do to turn this around? Cormier working away. Santos is working to avoid the ground and pound but Cormier connects with a decent elbow. Cormier landing a few strikes. Cormier landing strikes from the mount and Santos is in trouble! Santos tries to reverse the position but Cormier maintains control. Cormier looking to ground and pound his opponent to a finish here.
Santos is rocked! Cormier cracks Santos with a big head shot that has him covering up instantly! He's rolled onto his side and the referee has seen enough - this one is aaaaaaaaaaall over!
