Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Urijah Saber! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Anwar Sadat! The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, Timothy Bukovac and Frank Antenori.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Saber pulls out of a head kick attempt.
A momentary lapse in concentration from Saber enables Sadat to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Saber manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat. The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up. Saber can't keep his opponent in guard - Sadat advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount. Saber trying to control from the bottom.
Sadat moves into full mount! Saber won't be happy about that! Saber really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
Sadat controlling his opponent. Sadat looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet. Saber tries to hold on but Sadat postures up. Saber is looking to get back to his feet - it's going to be hard from this position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Saber is controlling an arm, preventing Sadat from taking his back. Although keeping him in mount is no better to be honest.
Saber wants to hold on but Sadat pushes him away. Sadat is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Saber is surviving well by controlling Sadat's body position as best he can. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Sadat tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. Saber wants to hold on but Sadat pushes him away. Sadat moves to take his opponent's back. Sadat has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Saber has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here! Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. A bit of a pause in the action here. Sadat controlling the positon. Saber wants to escape the position.
Sadat working for the rear naked choke here. He's got one arm under but Saber is defending well. A couple of punches soften him up though and Sadat has tightened the hold! This one could be all over! It is! Saber taps out!
