Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the welterweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
19 - 8 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Philip Phillips! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
21 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Barich Fendsor! The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Robert Twigg and Cecil Peabody.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Phillips pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Fendsor back to the cage. Phillips follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver. Phillips shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Fendsor pinned against the cage. Fendsor gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Phillips takes one to the side of the head.
Philip Phillips seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Phillips lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Phillips.
Fendsor is rocked! Phillips misses with the combination.
Fendsor is still on wobbly legs! Can Phillips finish him? Phillips fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Fendsor seems to have recovered his senses. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Fendsor throws a nice looking combination but Phillips bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Phillips wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection. Phillips closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage. Phillips misses with a body punch.
Fendsor keeps control of Phillips as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.

The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace. Phillips stands up from guard. Let's bang! Fendsor dodges the punch combination from Phillips.

Phillips scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction. Fendsor throws out a token jab with nothing on it. Phillips is looking to clinch but Fendsor is avoiding it.
Fendsor thumps Phillips with a low kick. Phillips shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Fendsor as he jumps to the side. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Philip Phillips. That's going to take a lot out of him. Fendsor keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Phillips tries to clinch and Fendsor counters with a nice body shot. Fendsor takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Phillips takes a shot right to the bread basket. Phillips throws a hook to the side of Fendsor's head but Fendsor sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. Phillips throws a nice looking combination but Fendsor bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Phillips misses with a jab, cross combination.
Phillips walks into a jab. Phillips shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Phillips is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Fendsor has managed to free his arm - good work. Fendsor tries to get to full guard but Phillips has control of the leg.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Fendsor is controlling Phillips's trapped leg to prevent Phillips from advancing to side control. Fendsor is trying to control but can't.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Phillips seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.
Fendsor wants to control but Phillips is keeping busy.
Phillips seems to be looking for submissions.
Phillips is thwarting Fendsor's attempts to control the position. Phillips wants to stand but Fendsor has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Fendsor is trying is best to control the position here.
Barich Fendsor has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet. Phillips tries for a takedown but Fendsor sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Phillips rushes Fendsor and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch. Phillips is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Fendsor is defending well. Phillips is looking for a takedown. Fendsor swings away with an uppercut that misses.
Fendsor escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Fendsor displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Phillips. Fendsor slips a jab and a cross from Phillips.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Philip Phillips dominated that round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Fendsor fails with the takedown. Phillips throws a left and a right that both miss
and Fendsor counters with a thumping low kick. Phillips looks to land a combination but Fendsor avoids it well. Phillips moves in looking to clinch but Fendsor pushes him off. Phillips misses with a double jab.

Phillips tries to clinch but Fendsor is having none of it. Phillips shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Fendsor but Fendsor pushes him off and we're back to square one. Fendsor lands a nice hook to Phillips's body. Phillips takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Phillips will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Fendsor buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
That's one minute gone in the round. Fendsor cracks the inside of Phillips's front leg. No luck for Phillips with that takedown attempt. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Philip Phillips. That's going to take a lot out of him. Fendsor throws a one two combo.
Phillips looking to score a takedown here. Fendsor is defending well but Phillips drives through and ends up in Fendsor's guard. Fendsor is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Phillips defends well. Fendsor escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Phillips gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Fendsor is trying to keep Phillips in close.
Fendsor has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Phillips can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Phillips would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard. Fendsor is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Phillips defends well. Fendsor is actively looking for submissions from his back. He's worked himself a little space on the bottom and seems to be going for a triangle. No, he's switched into an armbar! That was slick! Phillips rolls with it to try and escape but Fendsor cranks on the arm and Phillips is forced to tap out! This one is aaaaaaaaall over!
