The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Vesnev walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
A punch combination from Alves misses.
Alves misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Vesnev on the wrong end of a kick to the body.
Alves throws a right and a left that Vesnev avoids nicely.
Alves gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.
Vesnev connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.
A looping hook to the body misses from Alves. Vesnev does a little dance to reset his feet.
Vesnev lands a nice shot to the body.
Vesnev takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.

Alves has closed the distance and engaged Vesnev in a clinch.
Alves lands a right hand.
A short right hand to the side of the head by Vesnev.
With the fighters up against the cage, Vesnev throws an elbow but misses.
Vesnev is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Alves is defending well for now.
Alves avoids the elbow strike from Vesnev, against the cage.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Alves escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Vesnev has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Alves finds it's way round the side to connect with Vesnev's head.
Vesnev stuffs the takedown attempt from Alves. Alves gets slowly back to his feet.
Alves is looking to take this fight into the clinch.

Alves pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Vesnev listening to his corner there, landing a nice uppercut.
Alves throws the left hand but Vesnev avoids the punch easily.
Alves loads up on a big right hand but Vesnev slips the punch.
Vesnev lands a jab.
A lazy left from Alves finds it's target.
Alves tries to clinch but Vesnev moves out of range.
Alves doesn't manage to clinch there - Vesnev circles away.
Vesnev lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.

Alves looks to land a combination but Vesnev avoids it well.
Alves throws a right and a left that both miss.
Alves misses with a two punch combination.
Vesnev pushing out the jab but it's not landing.

Vesnev closes the distance and clinches.
Vesnev scores with an uppercut up the middle.
Vesnev blocks a body shot from Alves.

Alves's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button!
Vesnev creates a bit of distance and throws an elbow that only just misses.

Alves is rocked!

It looks like Hector Alves has been cut.
Alves lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of Vesnev backwards.
Oh Alves is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Vesnev creates a bit of space for himself and sneaks an elbow through Alves's defenses.
A nice left hand lands by Vesnev.
Alves is pressed against the cage. Vesnev pushes back and unleashes a big elbow that really hurts Alves! Two more big strikes from Vesnev and Alves crumples to the mat and taps out furiously due to the strikes!
