PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Mike Underhill (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Joe Bloggs (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Underhill might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Chimaira - Warpath. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.

The judges for this bout are James Atkins, Steven Brown and James Ackerman.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bloggs throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Bloggs tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Bloggs with a nice cross.
Underhill displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Bloggs throws out the jab.
Underhill fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Underhill is trying hard to land a takedown here. Bloggs sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Underhill shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Bloggs but Bloggs pushes him off and we're back to square one.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Mike Underhill. That's going to take a lot out of him.

and Underhill connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.

Underhill gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Bloggs is in close to Underhill's body, working some short punches and elbows.

Underhill controls Bloggs momentarily but Bloggs frees himself.
Bloggs wants to control from the top but Underhill keeps moving.
Underhill is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
Bloggs looking to sit in guard and control but Underhill gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Underhill postures up.
Underhill trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Bloggs wants to sweep here but Underhill controlling him for the moment.

Bloggs has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Joe Bloggs hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.

Bloggs moves in looking to clinch but Underhill pushes him off.
A punch lands to the side of Bloggs 's head but he takes it in his stride.

Bloggs lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
Underhill tries to clinch but Bloggs moves out of range.

Underhill wants to clinch up but Bloggs keeps it at a distance.

Bloggs avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Underhill looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.
Underhill shoots in for a takedown but Bloggs shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Bloggs shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Underhill manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Underhill wants to sweep but no luck.
Bloggs stands up over Underhill, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

Bloggs decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Underhill, up you get!
A jab from Bloggs finds it's way through Underhill's defenses.
Bloggs is landing a lot of head punches in this opening round! Underhill had better start moving his head a bit unless he wants his face to turn into pâté.
Underhill fails to land the takedown.

Joe Bloggs seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Underhill ducks under a wild hook from Bloggs.
Bloggs fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Underhill looks for a takedown but Bloggs sprawls well.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Bloggs throws a leg kick that misses.
Bloggs's jab looks to have found its range, popping Underhill under the eye.

Bloggs shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Underhill is trying to defend but Bloggs finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Underhill is rocked!
Bloggs lands a big elbow - Underhill is out of it! He's waving his arms around but his eyes are closed and he's not intelligently defending himself - the ref has no choice but to jump in and stop the fight! This one is in the books! A TKO win for Bloggs!
