PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Mace Windu (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Gerald Weis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Weis is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Bitter and then Some. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Weis shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Windu but Windu pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Windu doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Weis counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Windu's guard now.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Weis looking to sit in guard and control but Windu gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Weis tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Weis bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Windu's guard.

Windu can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Weis controls the pace.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Weis thows a big elbow that misses.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Weis shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Windu pinned against the cage. Windu gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Windu throws a head kick that looked like it stung.
Mace Windu seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Weis closes the distance and clinches up with Windu, looking for a takedown. Weis pushes Windu against the cage but Windu circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Mace Windu has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Gerald Weis.

Weis tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Windu smiles and moves away.

Weis not landing any meaningful shots this time.

Poor strikes thrown by Weis there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Weis has control of Windu's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Windu regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Windu wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by Weis.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Weis shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Windu as he jumps to the side.

Weis throws a punch but it's blocked by Windu.
Windu prevents a takedown attempt there.
Weis has Windu pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Windu manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
Mace Windu has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Gerald Weis.

Weis tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Windu just stands there and leans against the cage.

Weis is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Windu is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Windu has escaped and now he's on top!

That was a close second round but I would say that Mace Windu will probably get the nod.

Windu avoids a strike by Weis and manages to complete a very nice reversal in the process, to end up in Weis's guard! Fantastic escape!

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Weis holds on and takes a little breather.
Weis lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Windu!
BOOM! Weis connects with a massive shot to the dome!

Weis is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Windu can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
Windu takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Weis cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Windu in a bad spot here, taking shots to the head.
Weis can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Windu is looking to escape.
Weis breaks from Windu's wrist control and lands an elbow.
Weis throwing sloppy strikes, which aren't doing any damage.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Windu holding onto his opponent's waist for dear life, as Weis tries to land some strikes to get him to release his grip.

Gerald Weis comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Weis has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
