Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Niku Taku (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mort Shula (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Niku Taku! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 5 - 0, fighting out of New York, Mort Shula! The judges for this bout are John Kavanagh, Russell Pearce and Jonathan Paton.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Shula has Taku up against the cage in a clinch.
Taku throws a punch but it's blocked by Shula. The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Taku takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life. Taku jumps guard.
Shula wants to stand but Taku is controlling his posture from full guard. Taku trying to punch from his back but it's not doing any damage.
That's one minute gone in the round. Shula preventing the sweep. Shula wants to stand but Taku has a closed guard, so he can't escape. Shula wants to stand and escape but instead Taku has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard. Taku sitting in guard, not really doing much. Taku stands up from Shula's guard - Taku perhaps looking for a knockout.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Shula throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Taku counters by moving into the clinch. Taku jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Shula walks away with a smile on his face. Taku gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head. Taku has managed to clinch.
Taku pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Taku shoots in looking for a takedown but Shula manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Taku's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. Taku tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Shula swivels and escapes. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Niku Taku. That's going to take a lot out of him. Shula keeps the fight on the outside. Taku shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Taku throwing strikes from guard but Shula blocks nicely. Taku pushes down on Shula's leg and manages to get into half guard. Taku wants to control but Shula is keeping him busy. Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Taku in particular looking to stall. Shula is defending against the submission attempts here by Taku.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Taku thows a huge punch but Shula dodges it nicely.
Shula really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Taku. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Taku is looking to advance position but Shula won't allow it. Taku perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Taku is looking for a kimura but Shula is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Taku to get the leverage. The referee calls for the fighters to work.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Shula gets caught napping as Taku dives in and scores a takedown. Shula manages to retain guard. Shula keeping moving, preventing Taku from controlling successfully. Taku tries to free his leg and advance position but Shula is retaining full guard. Taku lands a couple of digs. Taku stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Shula swivels though and keeps the full guard. Shula keeping moving, preventing Taku from controlling successfully. Taku pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Shula is keeping the position for now.
That's one minute gone in the round. Taku decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Shula, up you get! Mort Shula is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Taku fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Taku shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Shula pinned against the cage. Shula gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Shula checks the leg kick.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Shula slaps away a takedown attempt from Taku, before circling back to the center of the mat. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Niku Taku. That's going to take a lot out of him. Taku drives through with a takedown into Shula's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Taku trying to control the position from guard on top but Shula is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Shula is working an open guard so Taku takes the opportunity to get back to his feet. Shula misses with a hook
and Taku counters by moving into the clinch.

Come on Taku - let's have some action - none of this stalling nonsense.
Taku tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Shula just stands there and leans against the cage. Taku tries to work over Shula's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target. Taku breaks the clinch.
No luck for Taku with that takedown attempt. Taku throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Shula's waist but Shula gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Taku off to one side.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Shula forces Taku back against the cage and clinches. Shula looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now. Taku wants to take the fight to the mat but Shula manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch. Shula tries to circle away but Taku has him pinned against the cage. Taku escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Shula with a nice cross. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Taku rushes Shula and presses him up against the cage. Taku keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Shula's efforts to push away. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Niku Taku dominated that second round. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!

Shula displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Taku. Taku looking for a takedown here - he's got it. Taku stops Shula from standing up. Shula is working an open guard so Taku takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

Taku stands up from Shula's guard - Taku perhaps looking for a knockout. Mort Shula has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
That's two minutes gone in the round. Taku darts in and clinches Shula up against the cage. Taku slowing the pace effectively. Taku pulls guard effortlessly. Taku pulls Shula in close to prevent any damage. Niku Taku overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Shula is looking to stand up but Taku won't let him. Taku working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Shula doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Shula manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Taku wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now. Shula preventing the sweep. Taku is working hard here to advance position. Shula wants to stand but Taku is controlling his posture from full guard.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. No luck for Taku with that takedown attempt. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Niku Taku. That's going to take a lot out of him. Taku closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Taku lands in his opponent's guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Taku wants to control from the top but Shula keeps moving. Taku postures up and lands a big shot to Shula's brow. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Taku working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. Niku Taku is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Taku seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
And that's the end of the fight! Niku Taku showed his dominance in that final round. Well Taku has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
