The judges for this bout are Summer Carpenter, Hugh Johnson and Steve Erwin.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Myers shoots in for a double leg but Kanam sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Myers fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Nice sprawl there from Kanam as Myers shoots in.
Kuran Kanam has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Sugar Ray Myers.
Myers wants to clinch up but Kanam keeps it at a distance.
Kanam darts in and clinches Myers up against the cage.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Kanam has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
Kanam thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Myers's head.
Kanam decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Kanam throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Myers shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Kanam sprawls well. Kanam wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Myers gets slowly back to his feet.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Kanam.

Myers checks a leg kick.
Kanam throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Kanam closes this distance looking for a takedown but Myers circles away.
Kanam looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.

Kanam tries to score a body lock takedown but Myers shows good agility there to stay on his feet.

Myers wants to get up but he can't break Kanam's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Kanam has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
Myers stands up and waves to Kanam to follow him.

Myers misses with a takedown attempt - Kanam sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

It looks like Sugar Ray Myers has been cut.
Kuran Kanam is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Kanam dives in and grabs Myers's left leg, looking for a takedown. Myers pushes down on Kanam's head and hops out.

and Kanam counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
Kanam goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.
Myers throws a shot from downtown. Kanam moves away and avoids it.
Myers tries for a takedown but Kanam sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Kanam shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Myers pinned against the cage. Myers gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Myers gets tackled into the cage by Kanam. Kanam maintains the clinch.

Myers tries to pull guard but Kanam forces him back to his feet, against the cage.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Kanam is on top in guard.
Myers wants to control but Kanam passes easily into half guard.

Myers is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Kanam's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Kanam's back!

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Kuran Kanam.
Well Kanam has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
