Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Valerio Bertoto!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Chong Zhu!
The judges for this bout are Trevor Gratis, William Peck and Elvis Blanc.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Bertoto shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.

Bertoto seems to be working for a kimura but Zhu defends the submission attempt.
Bertoto controlling the action here.
Bertoto wants to take a breather but Zhu is having none of it.

Bertoto is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Zhu defends it well.

Bertoto is looking for a kimura but Zhu is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Bertoto to get the leverage.

Zhu tries to roll over but Bertoto keeps him under control.
Bertoto moves into full mount! Zhu won't be happy about that!
Bertoto lands a big shot there that rocks Zhu but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
Bertoto throws a sloppy strike and Zhu uses the opportunity to reverse the position! A bit of a scramble here and Zhu has ended up in Bertoto's guard.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Zhu wants to control from the top but Bertoto keeps moving.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Bertoto is staying active underneath Zhu, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Bertoto landing rabbit punches to the side of Zhu's head. Not doing much damage but still scoring a few points.
Bertoto is concentrating on defense, preventing Zhu from advancing position.

Bertoto tries to roll over but Zhu keeps him under control.
Zhu is trying to control. Bertoto wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Bertoto is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Zhu is thwarting Bertoto's attempts to control the position.
Bertoto is positioning himself well to prevent Zhu advancing to mount.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Zhu looking to land some kicks to the body here.

Bertoto displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Zhu throws out the jab.

Zhu lands a leg kick that knocks Bertoto off balance momentarily.

Chong Zhu is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Zhu defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Bertoto.
Bertoto shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Zhu but Zhu pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Zhu throws a leg kick but Bertoto moved away.

Bertoto throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Zhu was covering up waiting for the punch and Bertoto finishes the takedown easily into guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Bertoto closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Bertoto is looking for a kimura here.

Bertoto looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Bertoto is trying to control the action in half guard but Zhu is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

Bertoto is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Zhu sees it coming and defends easily.

Bertoto really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Bertoto is looking for a kimura here.
Bertoto seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Zhu does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Bertoto is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Zhu is just riding it out for now. Bertoto eventually gives up the hold.

Bertoto is working for a kimura from half guard. He's really concentrating on the hold and it's allowed Zhu to slip a leg under and get back to full guard.

Bertoto is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Zhu is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Zhu has escaped and now he's on top!

Zhu fakes a jab and scores with a low kick.

Bertoto dives in and scores a takedown into Zhu's guard.

Zhu has momentary wrist control but Bertoto slips an elbow through the middle.
Bertoto looking to sit in guard and control but Zhu gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Bertoto pulls Zhu in close to prevent any damage.
Bertoto is trying to keep Zhu in close.
Bertoto is really struggling to control Zhu but he's trying to hold on to the position.

Bertoto has an active guard here but Zhu has managed to pass into half guard.

Zhu moves into side control, avoiding a weak kimura attempt from Bertoto.
Bertoto sneaks back into half guard.

Bertoto wants to improve his position but Zhu is controlling well.

Zhu is just content to waste time from the top position. Bertoto takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.
Bertoto keeping moving, preventing Zhu from controlling successfully.
Bertoto will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Bertoto has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Zhu can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Zhu wants to control from the top but Bertoto keeps moving.

Bertoto working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Zhu doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Zhu manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Bertoto is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Zhu defends well.
Chong Zhu has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Bertoto working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Zhu doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Zhu manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Zhu trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Zhu slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Zhu throws a strike aimed at the side of Bertoto's head but Bertoto avoids it well.
Bertoto is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Zhu off and has taken his back!

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Valerio Bertoto showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Bertoto, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

A less than humble Valerio Bertoto misjudged his post fight interview somewhat and came across a little too arrogant whilst trying to hype up his own abilities.
