Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Chad Slone! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jose Aldo! The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, Frank Dennis and Cecil Peabody.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Slone closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. Aldo should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete. Aldo is trying to control but can't.
Slone is looking to advance position but Aldo won't allow it. Aldo tries to roll over but Slone keeps him under control. Slone wants to free his trapped foot but Aldo is holding on for dear life with his legs. Slone controlling the pace. Slone trying to pass the guard but Aldo defending well. Slone wants to take a breather but Aldo is having none of it.
That's one minute gone in the round. Aldo wants to get back to full guard. Slone stalling.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Chad Slone. Slone changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Aldo looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. Aldo can't do much from the bottom here. Aldo might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Slone kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Slone wants to control but Aldo is keeping him busy. Slone tries to stand but Aldo is controlling his head. Slone laying and praying for a moment but Aldo takes advantage and regains half guard. Slone is looking to stall here but Aldo recovers full guard. Slone trying to control but Aldo is working from the bottom.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Slone is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions. We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
The ref stands the fighters back up. Chad Slone wasn't doing enough on the ground. Aldo with a body punch. A glancing blow.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Aldo closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage. Slone successfully pulls guard.
Slone working a defensive guard but Aldo manages to pass into side control anyway.
Slone tries to slip a leg under to move to half guard but Aldo presses down on the leg and jumps into full mount! Slone wants to hold on but Aldo pushes him away. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Chad Slone dominated that round. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
Aldo has Slone up against the cage in a clinch.

Slone looking to hit a scissor sweep but Aldo is one step ahead there. Aldo wants to control from the top but Slone keeps moving. Slone tries to land a sweep but no joy.
That's one minute gone in the round. Slone lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Aldo! Slone avoids the attempt from Aldo to control. Slone controlling from the full mount. Aldo is wriggling around trying to escape.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Slone can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Aldo is looking to escape. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Slone avoids the attempt from Aldo to control. We're hearing some news coming in from back stage. It's official - Aldo has eaten all the pies! Slone tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Slone prevents Aldo from getting the reversal. Slone is stalling here but it's allowed Aldo to get half guard.
Slone slows the pace down in half guard.
The ref stands the fighters back up. Chad Slone wasn't doing enough on the ground. Aldo throws a head kick but Slone moves out of range.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Slone throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Aldo tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Slone is in Aldo's guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Slone stands and throws Aldo's legs to the side, diving into side control. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Aldo is looking for a sweep. Slone wants to stand but Aldo is controlling his arm. Slone just content to control the position. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Chad Slone dominated that second round. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!
Aldo closes the distance and clinches up with Slone, looking for a takedown. Aldo pushes Slone against the cage but Slone circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Slone shoots in and gets a takedown into Aldo's guard. Slone content to stall in guard here. Aldo keeping moving, preventing Slone from controlling successfully.
That's one minute gone in the round. Aldo controls Slone momentarily but Slone frees himself. Slone sitting in guard here, content to control.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Chad Slone. Aldo shoots in and drives through. Slone sprawls well. Slone looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Aldo! Jose Aldo has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Slone will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Slone controlling from the full mount. Slone trying to control but Aldo is having none of it. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Slone controlling the pace for now. Aldo is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Slone controlling from mount. It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup. Aldo wants to control but Slone is having none of it. Chad Slone is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Slone can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Aldo is looking to escape. Chad Slone overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Slone tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Slone seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Aldo for as long as he can get away with.
The ref stands the fighters back up. Chad Slone wasn't doing enough on the ground. An inside leg kick from Slone misses. Slone stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Slone wants it to stay on the feet.
And that's the end of the fight! Chad Slone showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Slone, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
