PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Sheikh Hasina Wazed (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Khalil Zidane (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Wazed comes to the cage accompanied by Mercedes Sosa - Como la Cigarra. Zidane has chosen Tool - Jimmy as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 15 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Khalil Zidane!
The judges for this bout are Steve Erwin, Hugh Johnson and Skip Squint.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Zidane keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Zidane jabs away that one connects to the head of his opponent.

Wazed drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Zidane being controlled for a moment.
Wazed has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

Wazed is putting a hurting on Zidane here, landing some big shots from side control.
An elbow from Wazed crashes against the mat.
Wazed is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Zidane will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Wazed seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Zidane for as long as he can get away with.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Sheikh Hasina Wazed just wasn't active enough.
Wazed fails with a takedown attempt.
Zidane moves out of range of the strikes.
Wazed throws a big shot that misses.
Wazed shoots in but Zidane avoids the takedown attempt easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Sheikh Hasina Wazed. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Zidane blocks a jab.
Wazed takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.
Wazed changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Zidane tries to avoid it but Wazed manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Zidane to the ground. Zidane escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Wazed takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.

Zidane tries to work over Wazed's front leg with a kick but Wazed checks it.
A jab lands there for Zidane.
Wazed tries for a takedown but Zidane sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

Wazed throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Zidane was covering up waiting for the punch and Wazed finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Wazed throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Zidane works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Wazed tries to free his leg and advance position but Zidane is retaining full guard.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

Wazed checks a low kick from Zidane.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Zidane enables Wazed to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Zidane manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Wazed is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Sheikh Hasina Wazed dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Zidane scores with a jab to the body.
Nice sprawl there from Zidane as Wazed shoots in.
Zidane throws a looping overhand right but Wazed ducks down to avoid it.
Wazed checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time.
Zidane throws a series of strikes that have Wazed backpedaling.

Wazed is rocked!
Wazed looks for a takedown but Zidane sprawls well.
Oh Wazed is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Good leg kick by Zidane there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Zidane cracks Wazed on the jaw with a powerful right hand and Wazed falls backwards against the cage. Zidane follows up with more strikes that drop Wazed to his knees. Zidane keeps the pressure on and the referee jumps in to save Wazed! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:37 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Khalil Zidane!
Khalil Zidane bigged himself up after the win. The crowd seemed to love it.
