PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Johan Morgul (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Basti Haddl (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Morgul kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Skrillex-Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites. Basti Haddl has the eye of the tiger tonight.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Basti Haddl!
The judges for this bout are Marco Blurström, Tarja Halkonen and Matti Vanhoillinen.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Morgul fails with a takedown attempt.
Haddl throws a hook but Morgul avoids it easily.
Haddl tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Morgul was well out of range. Poor timing from Haddl.
Haddl misses with a right hand

and Morgul counters with a nice double leg into guard.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Morgul wants to control from the top but Haddl keeps moving.
Morgul controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Haddl looking to hit a scissor sweep but Morgul is one step ahead there.
Morgul throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Haddl works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Morgul passes Haddl's left leg - he's now in half guard.

Haddl is not content to let Morgul control the position.
Haddl trying to control but Morgul postures up.

Morgul is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Haddl doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Morgul.
Morgul is looking to stall here but Haddl recovers full guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Haddl utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Morgul wants to control from the top but Haddl keeps moving.
Haddl avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Morgul slips nicely into half guard.

Morgul is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Haddl has managed to free his arm - good work.
Morgul wants to pass to mount but Haddl is defending the position.
Haddl is not content to let Morgul control the position.
Morgul passes the guard and advances to mount!
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Haddl is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Morgul is in the full mount, landing strikes.
Morgul controlling his opponent.
Morgul trying to control but Haddl is having none of it.
Morgul is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Haddl is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Johan Morgul dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Morgul finds himself stumbling back on wobbly legs after being clipped by a right hand. He's up against the cage, ducking and weaving under Haddl's strikes but an uppercut finds it's way through and Morgul falls! - He's completely out of it and the ref jumps in to save him!
