Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Ben Thomas!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Sander Cool!
The judges for this bout are Kenichi Hosakawa, Shirou Masuda and Shigeki Sano.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cool shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Cool feints a jab promting Thomas to slip. Cool then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Thomas slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.
Cool fails with an attempt to clinch.
Cool looks to score with a jab to the body but Thomas is just out of range.
Cool doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
Cool throws a sloppy head kick
and Thomas counters with a crisp one two that drops Cool! Thomas thinks about following him to the mat for a moment but instead steps back and waves Cool to his feet! Cool is in big trouble!
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Thomas closes the distance and clinches up with Cool, looking for a takedown. Thomas pushes Cool against the cage but Cool circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
A jab from Cool misses.
Cool misses with a head kick.
Thomas is trying hard to land a takedown here. Cool sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Cool takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
Cool looks winded!
Thomas changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
Thomas shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Cool eats them both and turns towards Thomas to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.
Cool should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
Thomas has a takedown stuffed.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ben Thomas. That's going to take a lot out of him.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Thomas scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
You can see the frustration on Cool's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Thomas has an Americana. Cool didn't react quickly enough there and he's in big trouble now! He tries to squirm out but is forced to tap! Thomas is delighted and gyrates in front of the ring girls. They seem to like the attention - it'll be interesting to see if Thomas hooks up with any of them at the after show party.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:36 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Americana). Ben Thomas!
