The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Kennedy manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.

Cotto got a little sloppy there for a moment and Kennedy has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Cotto has managed to get both his arms back between Kennedy's legs - danger averted.

Kennedy has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Cotto off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.

Cotto tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Kennedy manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Kennedy shoots in for a takedown but Cotto shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Marcus Kennedy. That's going to take a lot out of him.
