PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Xuang Lee (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Peter Loeffler (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Xuang Lee!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Peter Loeffler!
The judges for this bout are Winston Howard, John Mangel and Donatello Bradman.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lee lands a jab.
Loeffler moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.

Loeffler moves into the clinch successfully.
Loeffler throws a head punch that misses.
Lee blocks an uppercut.
Lee throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Loeffler blocks it with crossed arms.
Lee misses with a punch to the body.
Lee pushes off an throws an elbow but Loeffler leans to the side and avoids it. We're back to clinching against the cage.

Loeffler breaks from the clinch.
Lee gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Loeffler.
Lee moves in looking to clinch but Loeffler pushes him off.
Lee attempts a low kick but it misses it's target.
Loeffler is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Lee fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Lee shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Loeffler as he avoids it easily.

Lee gets tackled into the cage by Loeffler. Loeffler maintains the clinch.
Lee tries to land a knee to the head but Loeffler blocks with his arms.

Loeffler breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Lee doesn't manage to clinch there - Loeffler circles away.

Loeffler moves into the clinch.
Lee tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Loeffler smiles and moves away.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Xuang Lee. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Loeffler stuffs the takedown.
Loeffler moves in looking to clinch but Lee pushes him off.
Peter Loeffler seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
The fight stays on the outside here - Lee looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Lee really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Lee has a takedown stuffed.
Loeffler shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Lee sprawls well. Lee wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Loeffler gets slowly back to his feet.

Loeffler is looking to clinch.
Lee shoots for a double leg takedown but Loeffler sprawls well. He's pushed Lee's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Loeffler shoots in looking for a takedown. Lee tries to sprawl out of it but Loeffler keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Lee manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Loeffler fails with an attempt to clinch.
Lee closes this distance looking for a takedown but Loeffler circles away.
Lee closes the distance and clinches up with Loeffler, looking for a takedown. Lee pushes Loeffler against the cage but Loeffler circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Loeffler shoots in and drives through. Lee sprawls well.

Lee drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Lee decides to stand back up. Lee steps back and let's Loeffler get back to his feet.

A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Loeffler.
Loeffler looks winded!

Loeffler darts in and clinches Lee up against the cage.
Loeffler misses with a shot to the kidneys.

Loeffler breaks the clinch.
Loeffler is looking to take this fight into the clinch.

Loeffler clinches with his opponent.
Loeffler prevents the takedown attempt.
Lee tries to break the clinch but Loeffler is controlling the position.
Loeffler tries to pull guard but Lee forces him back to his feet, against the cage.
Lee tries for a takedown but Loeffler manages to get underhooks.
Lee is trying to push Loeffler away but Loeffler has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.

A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors.

Loeffler decides to pull guard.
Loeffler can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Lee controls the pace.

Lee decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Loeffler, up you get!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Loeffler is looking to clinch but Lee is avoiding it.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Loeffler fails with an attempt to clinch.
Lee doesn't manage to clinch there - Loeffler circles away.
Loeffler keeps the fight on the outside.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Peter Loeffler will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Lee shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Loeffler pinned against the cage. Loeffler gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Loeffler displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Lee.
Lee tries to clinch up but Loeffler circles away and keeps his distance.

Loeffler rushes Lee and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

Lee manages to pull guard.
Loeffler looking to sit in guard and control but Lee gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Loeffler is wriggling around but Lee manages to pass to half guard.
Loeffler really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Lee. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Lee decides to return to a standing position.
Lee keeps the fight on the outside.

Loeffler takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
Lee fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Loeffler avoids it really well and circles away.
Jab, jab by Loeffler - just one landing.
Peter Loeffler seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Sloppy strikes from Loeffler. Those never looked like landing.

Loeffler lands with a left to the head.

Loeffler's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Loeffler tries to clinch but Lee is having none of it.
Loeffler tries to score a power double leg takedown but Lee sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Loeffler somewhat.
Loeffler is breathing heavily.
Lee throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Lee tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Loeffler manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Loeffler stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Loeffler wants it to stay on the feet.
Lee dives in and grabs Loeffler's left leg, looking for a takedown. Loeffler pushes down on Lee's head and hops out.

Loeffler moves into the clinch.
Lee has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Loeffler after a bit of a struggle.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Lee decides to take the fight back to the feet.
Loeffler is looking to clinch but Lee is avoiding it.

Lee shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Lee showed some decent athleticism there.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Loeffler is staying active underneath Lee, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Xuang Lee dominated that second round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!

Lee fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Loeffler on the side of the head.

Both guys are working to get underhooks.

Loeffler pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Lee looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Nice takedown defense from Loeffler. No joy for Lee on that attempt.

It really doesn't seem like the step up in weight is hurting Lee here at all. He's more than holding his own against the bigger man.
Loeffler swings and misses with a hook to the body.

Loeffler tries to pull guard but Lee holds him up against the cage and eventually Loeffler drops back down to his feet.

That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Xuang Lee. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Loeffler clinches with his opponent.
Lee is trying to force a seperation but Loeffler has the dominant position.
Loeffler wants a takedown.
Loeffler pushes Lee back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head.

Loeffler takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Loeffler swings wildly with an uppercut but Lee uses good head movement to avoid it.

Lee jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Loeffler walks away with a smile on his face. Lee gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Lee manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Loeffler on his heels. He'll look to pass Loeffler's guard now, I'm sure.

Loeffler is in trouble now - Lee has advanced to mount!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Lee can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Loeffler is looking to escape.

Loeffler tries to reverse the position but Lee maintains control.
Loeffler reaches up to try and control the position but Lee seems to have an arm triangle now! Uh oh! Loeffler rolls and tries to escape and now Lee has his back!
You know, I was talking to some of our celebrities at ringside tonight and they were split right down the middle on who was going to win this fight.
Lee's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
Loeffler is keeping busy.

You can see the frustration on Loeffler's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Loeffler won't enjoy being in this position. Lee looking for the choke. Oh... he's slipped the arm under the neck - Loeffler is tapping - it's over boys! Lee picks up the submission victory!
