Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Darren Robson! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Mark Hunt! The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, Stewart Dunkirk and Daniel Franklin.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Hunt tries to clinch but Robson is having none of it. Robson shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Hunt as he avoids it easily. Robson misses with a takedown attempt - Hunt sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Robson has closed the distance and engaged Hunt in a clinch.
Robson tries to break the clinch but Hunt is controlling the position. Hunt has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Robson is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet. Robson has Hunt pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Robson pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Hunt tumbling to the mat - Robson dives into Hunt's guard. Robson postures up in Hunt's guard and throws a big left but Hunt blocks it. Robson wants to stand but Hunt is controlling his posture from full guard. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Hunt is on top in guard.
Robson wants to stand up but Hunt is controlling him. Hunt working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
That's one minute gone in the round. Robson keeping moving, preventing Hunt from controlling successfully. Robson is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Hunt is controlling him. Hunt trying to control but Robson is working from the bottom. Hunt is looking to stand up but Robson won't let him. Hunt with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal. Hunt slips effortlessly into side control - very nice. Robson is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Hunt has just dragged him back down to the mat. Hunt trying to control the position but Robson is working away.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Robson tries to get back to his feet but has found himself mounted instead. Damn, that's gotta suck. The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now. Hunt trying to control but he's not successful this time. Robson working to try and regain half guard.
Robson is breathing heavily.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Hunt tries to control but Robson wriggling away. Hunt with good strikes from the mount here! Hunt looking to secure an arm triangle but Robson defends it well. Hunt putting on the heat here with some good ground and pound! Hunt controlling from mount. Robson is trying to reverse the position but instead Hunt has taken his back - oops! Robson is trying to break free.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Hunt is working the back position looking for the choke. Oh, he's slid into an armbar! Beautiful transition and Robson taps out! Fantastic Jiu Jitsu from Hunt.
