Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Taylor Red (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Garett Potter (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Potter has chosen Ju Jitsu as his entrance music. Garett Potter told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Taylor Red! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Garett Potter! The judges for this bout are Chris Saunders, Ryoma Takatsuka and Josh West.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Potter instigates a clinch. Red content to slow the pace in the clinch.
Red misses with a hook from the clinch. Potter is trying to pull guard but Red turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch. Red has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Potter is trying to keep an underhook but Red manages to get the takedown into half guard. Potter is trying to get back to full guard. Red not landing any meaningful shots this time. Red tries to pass to full mount but Potter defends it. Potter is trying to maintain the position but Red is very close to passing his half guard. Potter regains full guard. Nicely done. Potter is trying to control the position from the bottom.
That's one minute gone in the round. Red throws a strike but Potter rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top. Potter postures up.
Potter wants to get up but he can't break Red's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here. Red is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Red wants to sweep here but Potter controlling him for the moment. Potter trying to control the position from guard on top but Red is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Garett Potter wasn't active enough on the ground. Potter shoots in for a takedown but Red shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. Red shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Potter is trying to defend but Red finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further. Potter is controlling Red's position as best he can from this difficult position. Red decides to return to a standing position. Potter closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Red lands a takedown into guard.
Potter keeping moving, preventing Red from controlling successfully. Potter looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Red looking to sit in guard and control but Potter gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Red keeping full guard, as Potter tries to pass. Red looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Potter gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent. Potter clinches with his opponent.
Potter wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee. Potter blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning. Red tries to land a knee to the head but misses.
Potter wants a takedown.
Taylor Red has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Garett Potter. Red tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Red trying to land knees to the body.
Good anti-grappling being displayed by Red as Potter tries to tie him up. Potter wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Red has Potter pushed against the cage. Red has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Potter is trying to keep an underhook but Red manages to get the takedown into half guard. It looks like Red is going to stand back up.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Red is looking to take a break and control but Potter is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up. Red is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Potter is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Taylor Red dominated that round. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!
Red shoots in for a double leg but Potter sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Red shoots in looking for a takedown. Potter tries to sprawl out of it but Red keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Potter manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Red looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Potter! Red throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for Potter because Red loaded up on that one. Red misses with a head shot. Taylor Red overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Potter is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.
Potter bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done! Red is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Red on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Red tries to get out of the position. Potter trying to control but Red is working from the bottom.
That's one minute gone in the round. Red wants to sweep but no luck. Red is working hard here to advance position. Potter controls from within his opponent's guard. Potter works a leg free and moves into half guard. Red is refusing to be controlled, as Potter sits in half guard. Potter is looking for a kimura here.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Red is controlling Potter's trapped leg to prevent Potter from advancing to side control. Red tries to roll over but Potter keeps him under control. Red missing with punches from the bottom.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Potter thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas. Potter throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man. Potter is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.
Potter passes to full mount! The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Red is trying to reverse the position but instead Potter has taken his back - oops! Potter has the hooks in. Red is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted. Red wants to escape the position but for the time being he's just trying to control the pace. Potter looking for the RNC. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Potter is looking to control Red but Red is wriggling around and keeping busy.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Red tries to escape but Potter has the hooks in and won't let him break free. Red's corner are yelling at him, telling him to just focus on controlling Potter's hands. Red breaks Potter's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.
Red tries to free his leg and advance position but Potter is retaining full guard. Red has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Potter throwing some rather feeble looking strikes off his back.

Garett Potter showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!
A momentary lapse in concentration from Potter enables Red to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Potter manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat. Potter preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Potter keeping full guard, as Red tries to pass. Red showing good wrestling skills to control the position. Red looking to sit in guard and control but Potter gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Red looking to hit a scissor sweep but Potter is one step ahead there. Red is trying to control the position from the bottom.
That's one minute gone in the round. Red looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Potter puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard. Potter missing with some ground and pound from the half guard. Potter postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Red to stand up. Potter gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Red to score an easy takedown into full guard. Red prevents Potter from getting back to his feet. Red is looking to work some ground and pound but Potter has wrist control. Potter is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far. Red wants to control from the top but Potter keeps moving.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Red stopping the sweep attempt from Potter. Potter keeping moving, preventing Red from controlling successfully. Red missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Red throws an elbow that misses. Potter uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Red's guard. Nice move by Potter! Red trying to keep a closed guard but Potter is proving a slippery customer.
Potter drops back looking for a leg! Red is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Red manages to kick Potter off! Potter jumps back into Red's guard.

Red is squirming around, avoiding Potter's attempts to control the action. Red keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Red wants to control but Potter is having none of it. Red can't escape the position.
Potter avoids the attempt from Red to control. Red is wriggling around trying to escape.
Potter wants to control the pace but Red is squirming around nicely. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Red is desperately trying to improve his position but Potter has a good base and remains in mount. Potter with a couple of short strikes.
And that's the end of the fight! Taylor Red showed his dominance in that final round. Well Red has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
