Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the bantamweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
16 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Joko Diaz! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
7 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Mark Coalman! The judges for this bout are George Francis, Gwen Towbar and Chris Downing.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Coalman closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Diaz's guard. Diaz seems keen to control Coalman's posture. Diaz preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Coalman throws a big elbow that misses. Coalman really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Diaz. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Coalman throws a big elbow that misses. Coalman trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Coalman missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Diaz has his hands on Coalman's head, controlling the position. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The ref stands the fighters back up because Joko Diaz just wasn't active enough. Diaz misses with a wild combination.
That's one minute gone in the round. Coalman swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Coalman steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Diaz. Diaz drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Coalman wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done! Diaz has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand. Coalman keeps the fight on the outside. Diaz closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Coalman quickly recovers to half guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Diaz is trying to work for a kimura but Coalman is defending well.

This has been an exciting period of action! Coalman is trying to stand up here but Diaz is controlling him well. Diaz keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action. Coalman wants to get back to his feet. Diaz seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Coalman does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
That's three minutes gone in the round. The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup. Coalman wants to get back to his feet.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Joko Diaz. Coalman shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Diaz's guard. Coalman in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Diaz pulls Coalman in close to his closed guard and prevents Coalman from doing any damage or advancing position. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Diaz is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Diaz seems like he's working for an arm triangle here. He's freed his trapped foot and he's rotating nicely. Coalman is in big trouble! He's tapping out! This one is aaaaaaaaaaaall over!
