Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
10 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Lou Haggen! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Renato Silva! The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, and Frank Antenori.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Haggen shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Silva is trying to defend but Haggen finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further. Haggen wants to work for an arm triangle but Silva is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Silva wants to get back to his feet.

Haggen thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Silva's head. Silva really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Haggen. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Haggen is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Silva sees it coming and defends easily. Silva is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Haggen pulls his head out easily. Silva avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Haggen. Haggen has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Silva tries to get to full guard but Haggen has control of the leg. Haggen is trying to work for a kimura but Silva is defending well.
Silva is doing well to control the position and prevent Haggen from advancing to side control.
That's one minute gone in the round. Haggen lands with a punch from half guard. Haggen is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Silva is looking to escape. Haggen takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists. Haggen has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount. Haggen postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Silva looks a forlorn figure.
It looks like Renato Silva has been cut. Haggen quickly switches position and commits to an armbar! It's a big risk for Haggen but it's paid off an Silva is forced to tap! Nice work by Haggen.
