PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Lucas Fury (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Lukasz Niewi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Lucas Fury!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of London, Lukasz Niewi!
The judges for this bout are William Gold, Richard Clark and James Atkins.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Niewi gets caught flat footed, as Fury shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Niewi looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!
Fury tries to free his leg and advance position but Niewi is retaining full guard.
Niewi looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Fury throws a big elbow that misses.
Niewi is trying to keep Fury in close.
Fury tries to stand but Niewi is controlling from the bottom.
Fury stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Niewi swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Fury decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

Niewi gets caught napping as Fury dives in and scores a takedown. Niewi manages to retain guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Fury trying to control the position from guard on top but Niewi is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Niewi keeping moving, preventing Fury from controlling successfully.
Fury has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Fury looking to control the position here, rather than advance.

We're going to have a standup here because Lucas Fury wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Fury changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.

Niewi tries to keep at a distance but Fury has taken the fight into the clinch.

Fury is not content to let Niewi control the position.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Fury lands with a nice body kick.

Fury fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Niewi, pushing him back against the cage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Fury digs a right hand underneath Niewi's ribcage. Niewi let out a lung full of air as it connected.

Fury gets a trip takedown into half guard.
Fury knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Niewi on the ground.
Niewi is staying active underneath Fury, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Fury will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Fury drops an elbow to the side of Niewi's head.
Fury wants to get back to his feet.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Fury content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
Lucas Fury overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Fury is trying to control the action in half guard but Niewi is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

Fury decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

Niewi darts in and clinches Fury up against the cage.

Fury gets control of Niewi's arms and successfully pulls guard. Fury will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
Fury wants to improve his position but instead Niewi has moved into half guard.

Niewi is looking for a kimura but Fury is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Niewi to get the leverage.
Fury trying to control but Niewi postures up.
Fury wants to get back to full guard but Niewi has mounted him!

Fury drags the fight down to the ground.
Fury seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
Niewi controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Fury trying to keep a closed guard but Niewi is proving a slippery customer.
Fury looking for a sweep. Not yet Fury, not yet.

Niewi is trying to keep Fury in close.

Niewi is looking to stand up but Fury isn't so interested in that idea.

Niewi looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Fury is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Lucas Fury just wasn't active enough.
Fury throws a right and a left that Niewi avoids nicely.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Fury fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Niewi is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but Fury is keeping busy.
Niewi is trying to slow the pace down but that's a couple of times in a row that he's tried to get underhooks and Fury has denied him.

Well Fury has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
