Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Patrick Diaz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Barry Barrow (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Patrick Diaz! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Barry Barrow! The judges for this bout are Steve Montenegro, Eddie Farnsworth and Columbo Gatti.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Barrow scores with a takedown into Diaz's guard. The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace. Barrow trying to control but Diaz is working from the bottom. Barrow got a little sloppy there for a moment and Diaz has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Barrow has managed to get both his arms back between Diaz's legs - danger averted. Diaz looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Diaz had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Barrow defends it easily. Barrow must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Barrow avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Barrow with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Barrow passes easily into side control. Nice work. Barrow controlling the position. Let's hope that Barrow has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Barrow decides to stand back up. Barrow steps back and let's Diaz get back to his feet. Barrow scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice. This has been an exciting period of action! Barrow grinds an elbow into Diaz's temple. The referee asks Barrow politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Barrow prefers to stall for the moment though. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Diaz is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Barrow asserts his dominance and retains side control. Diaz taking a bit of punishment here - Barrow scoring with strikes.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Diaz is trying to get back to his feet. Barrow tries to advance to mount but Diaz denies him. Barrow just content to control the position. Diaz is positioning himself to get back to half guard. Barrow landing a few strikes. Barrow lands a decent elbow from side control. Barrow controls the position. Diaz tries to improve position but can't. Barrow connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Diaz some visible discomfort.
Diaz wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done! Barrow wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Diaz, who protects the arm well.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Diaz wants to get back to his feet but Barrow drags him back down. Barrow has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand. Diaz misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

Diaz is breathing heavily. Barrow closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Diaz's guard. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Diaz can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Barrow controls the pace. Diaz keeping moving, preventing Barrow from controlling successfully. Barrow might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Diaz kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

Barrow wants to control from the top but Diaz keeps moving. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Barrow is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact. Barrow gets to his feet. Diaz looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son! Patrick Diaz seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Barrow shoots in for a takedown but Diaz shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Barry Barrow has got the better of the ground game so far. Barrow postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head. Diaz working for a triangle but Barrow defends it easily.
Barrow is working Diaz over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Barrow can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Barrow cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

That's four minutes gone in the round. This has been an exciting period of action! Barrow is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Diaz to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Diaz shrugs it off. Barry Barrow is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight. Diaz is really trying hard to get back to his feet.
