Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Hideo Koyama (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mark Sikkila (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Sikkila has chosen Choke by Kittie as his entrance music. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the ring.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Hideo Koyama!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Mark Sikkila!
The judges for this bout are Tarja Halkonen, Marco Blurström and Johanna Lukiainen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

The fight moves into the clinch position.

Koyama breaks the clinch.

Sikkila moves into the clinch.
Koyama misses with a shot to the kidneys.

Koyama breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Koyama swats away the attempt to clinch by Sikkila.
Sikkila closes the distance looking to clinch
and Sikkila takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Sikkila tries to check the leg kick but that clearly hurt him.
Sikkila is looking to clinch.
Sikkila misses with a takedown
letting Koyama counter with a right hand.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Sikkila shoots for a takedown but Koyama saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Sikkila fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Koyama manages to avoid it.
Sikkila tries to clinch but Koyama is having none of it.
Sikkila tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Koyama fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Sikkila.
Sikkila shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Koyama as he jumps to the side.
Hideo Koyama has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Mark Sikkila.
Koyama tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Sikkila was well out of range. Poor timing from Koyama.
Koyama circles away from the clinch attempt.
Koyama stuns Sikkila with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Sikkila ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Koyama moves away.
Koyama scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
Koyama swings away with a leg kick that misses.
Sikkila darts in trying to clinch
and Koyama counters with a nice body shot.
Koyama misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Koyama thows a body shot but no joy.
Koyama throws a series of strikes that have Sikkila backpedaling.
Sikkila wants to clinch but Koyama slips to the side
and Koyama counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
Sikkila moves in looking to clinch but Koyama pushes him off.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Sikkila tries to clinch up
and Koyama makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
Hideo Koyama is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Koyama circles away from the clinch attempt
and Koyama counters with a stiff right hand.
Sikkila shoots in for a takedown but Koyama shows good takedown defense.
Koyama lands a nice shot to the body.
Koyama takes a swing at Sikkila's ribcage but misses.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Sikkila shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Koyama as he jumps to the side.
Sikkila fails with an attempt to clinch.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Sikkila is defended easily by Koyama.
Sikkila tries to clinch there but Koyama circles away.
Sikkila thows a body shot but no joy.

Sikkila darts in and clinches Koyama up against the ropes.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Koyama tries to break free but Sikkila pushes him back against the ropes.
Sikkila keeps control of Koyama as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Hideo Koyama will probably get the nod.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Sikkila shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Koyama pinned against the ropes. Koyama gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Sikkila closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

Sikkila tries for a kimura but Koyama is defending well.
Sikkila tries to advance to mount but Koyama denies him.
Sikkila is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Sikkila working the ground and pound but he's contacting the mat, not the fighter.

Sikkila wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Koyama, who protects the arm well.
Sikkila in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows.
Koyama wants to control but Sikkila postures up.

Sikkila in side control, working for a kimura. He's got hold of an arm and he's torquing it... Koyama is tapping! That's the end of the fight!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:56 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Mark Sikkila!
An out of breath Mark Sikkila thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
