Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Max Mazer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rafael Boquita (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Boquita has chosen Fort Minor - Remember The Name as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Rafael Boquita is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of

1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Rafael Boquita! The judges for this bout are Micheangelo Fripello, Colin Fray and Chris Saunders.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Mazer looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Boquita defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Mazer. Mazer shoots in for a takedown but Boquita shows good takedown defense. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Max Mazer. That's going to take a lot out of him. Boquita fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Mazer sprawls well initially but Boquita persists and gets the takedown into half guard. Boquita is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Mazer makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Mazer. Mazer looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Boquita is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Mazer is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Mazer has escaped and now he's on top! Boquita working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Mazer doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Mazer manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Mazer trying to control but Boquita is working from the bottom.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Boquita has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Mazer can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Boquita looks winded! Mazer passes easily into side control. Nice work. Mazer has hold of Boquita's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Boquita tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Mazer cranks the arm and Boquita screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Boquita, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:42 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Americana). Max Mazer! Max Mazer decided to hype himself up post fight. It was going well but he went on about it a bit too long and the crowd turned on him a little.
