Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Kakihara Wallace (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Matts Serra (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Wallace comes to the cage accompanied by Afroman - Because I Got High. Kakihara Wallace has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 13 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Kakihara Wallace!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 13 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Matts Serra!
The judges for this bout are Edson Gomes, Daniel Cesar and Alexandre Firmino.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Serra doesn't manage to clinch there - Wallace circles away.
Wallace throws a hook to the side of Serra's head but Serra sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Serra swings away with a body shot that misses
and Wallace connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Serra scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent.
Serra tries for a takedown but Wallace sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Wallace misses with a right hand
and Serra counters with a left to the body.
Wallace takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.

Serra looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Wallace!
Serra seems to be looking to move to his opponent's back but Wallace is holding on tight.
Wallace is in all sorts of trouble here.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Serra wants to control the pace but Wallace is squirming around nicely.

Serra jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Wallace is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Wallace and Serra has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.

Serra swings around for an armbar but Wallace sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Serra's guard.
Wallace is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

Serra isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Wallace stacks Serra on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Wallace!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Wallace is looking to take a break and control but Serra is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Serra is trying to control Wallace's posture but Wallace avoids it.

Serra looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.

Serra looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Serra is keen to just control but Wallace is a slippery customer.

Wallace pushes Serra off looking to stand but Serra dives back in and keeps control.
Serra works his way into side control.
You can see the frustration on Wallace's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Wallace is not content to let Serra control the position.

Serra throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Wallace's waist but Wallace gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Serra off to one side.

Serra might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Wallace kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Serra tries to advance position but instead Wallace slips a leg back in to half guard.

Matts Serra showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Serra fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Wallace looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.

Serra working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Wallace doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Wallace manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

enabling Serra to counter with a crisp jab.

Serra closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Wallace quickly recovers to half guard.

Matts Serra is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
Both of our modern day gladiators look out of it here - an gruelling 5 rounds of action taking it's toll on them, no doubt.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Matts Serra hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.

Serra avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Wallace fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Serra manages to avoid it.
