PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Rasta Fary (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Winjkin William (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Fary comes to the cage accompanied by El toro guapo. Rasta Fary has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 6 - 2, fighting out of Helsinki, Rasta Fary!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 12 - 6 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Winjkin William!
The judges for this bout are Roosa Järviläinen, Tarja Halkonen and Marco Blurström.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Fary connects with a looping right hand.
Fary displaying good standup as he scores with a three punch combination.
William throws a body kick that digs right into the meat.
Fary takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Fary misses with a combination

and William counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
William trying to control the action but Fary is working from the bottom.
William is looking to pass Fary's guard but actually Fary recovers to full guard.
William with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Fary not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
William wants to stand but Fary is controlling his posture from full guard.

William trying to control but Fary is working from the bottom.
Fary wants to sweep but no luck.
William wants to control from the top but Fary keeps moving.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Winjkin William was stalling too much, according to the referee.
Fary misses with a double jab.

William pushes Fary up against the cage in a clinch.
William tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Fary avoids it.
Fary tries to land a knee to the head but misses.

William has clasped his hands together around Fary's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done.
William trying to control the position but Fary is working away.

William is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Fary knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Fary takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
William postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.

William stands up.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
William shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Fary as he avoids it easily.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
William takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.
A slapping body kick lands there for William.
William throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
William shoots in looking for a takedown but Fary manages to keep the fight standing, pushing William's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Fary looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Nice strikes from Fary there.
Fary thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Fary wants to lay and pray for a moment but William keeps working.
Fary is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
Fary thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed William's head.

Fary is looking for a kimura but William is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Fary to get the leverage.
Fary wants to free his trapped foot but William is holding on for dear life with his legs.
William tries to get to full guard but Fary has control of the leg.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Fary connects with a nice short shot to William's temple.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Fary looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Fary throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
William is staying active underneath Fary, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Winjkin William will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


William closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.
Fary looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Fary misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
William throws a shot from downtown. Fary moves away and avoids it.
William connects with a high kick.
William shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Fary as he jumps to the side.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from William.

Fary forces William back against the cage and clinches.
Fary lands a shoulder strike.

Fary pulls guard.
William distracts Fary with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
William throws an elbow that misses. Fary uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in William's guard. Nice move by Fary!
William lands some strikes from the bottom.

That's one minute gone in the round.
William is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
William not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
William wants to control but instead he gets his guard passed and Fary is now in half guard.
Fary winds up and cracks William with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
William tries to get to full guard but Fary has control of the leg.
Fary is stalling here. William is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Fary seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and William has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.
Winjkin William has got the better of the ground game so far.
William tries to move to full mount but Fary actually manages to regain half guard.

William misses with a head shot. Fary uses the momentum to regain guard.
William wants to pass the guard but Fary is keeping the position.

Fary tries to land a sweep but no joy.
William throws an elbow that misses. Fary uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in William's guard. Nice move by Fary!

William is pulling down on Fary's head to control his posture.
William keeping moving, preventing Fary from controlling successfully.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
William is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Fary.

Fary misses with the combination.
Fary wants to slow William down by chopping away at his legs.

Fary looking to score a takedown here. William is defending well but Fary drives through and ends up in William's guard.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

That was a close second round but I would say that Rasta Fary will probably get the nod.

The referee calls for William to work.
Fary tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.

Fary swings away with an uppercut that misses.

A battle for position here, against the cage.

Fary escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Fary misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from William.
Fary tries a knee to the head but William blocks it.

William turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and William manages to end up in side control.

The referee asks William politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. William prefers to stall for the moment though.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
William wants to lay and pray for a moment but Fary keeps working.
William in side control, just content to control the action for now.
William's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Winjkin William wasn't active enough on the ground.
Fary throws a quick head kick that skims the top of William's head.
Fary throws a right hand that William ducks under and follows up with a left that William also avoids with ease.
A big right from Fary misses.
William shoots for a double leg takedown but Fary sprawls well. He's pushed William's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Rasta Fary seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Fary clinches.
Fary taking a break, stalling in the clinch.
Fary tries to break free but William pushes him back against the cage.
Fary lands with a right to the head.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
William goes for a takedown attempt but Fary pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Rasta Fary has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Winjkin William.
Fary looks to land a combination. William sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.

And that's the end of the fight!
Rasta Fary showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Fary has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
