Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
5 - 5 - 0, fighting out of New York, John Johnsson! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
14 - 20 - 0, fighting out of New York, Frank Castle! The judges for this bout are Joseph Jones, John Kavanagh and Steve Montenegro.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Johnsson lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range. Castle gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Johnsson. Castle slips a jab and a cross from Johnsson.
Castle fails with the takedown and Johnsson makes the exchange count by landing a cracking kick to the body. Castle really felt that one! Castle tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Johnsson swivels and escapes. Castle avoids a kick to the body.
Johnsson fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Castle shoots in but Johnsson avoids the takedown attempt easily. John Johnsson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Frank Castle. Johnsson uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Castle.
Johnsson defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Castle. A combination from Johnsson does no damage. Castle shoots in and drives through. Johnsson sprawls well. Johnsson throws a body punch but Castle moves out of range. Castle with a poor takedown and Johnsson makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick. Johnsson displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Castle. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Castle blocks a head kick by Johnsson.

Castle has his takedown stuffed enabling Johnsson to counter with a crisp jab. Johnsson throws a right hand that Castle ducks under and follows up with a left that Castle also avoids with ease. A punch combination from Johnsson misses. Johnsson lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt. Johnsson misses with the combination.
Johnsson throws a hook but Castle blocks it. Castle looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Johnsson is fending him off so far but Castle persists. Nope, Johnsson circles away and we're back to standing. Johnsson throws a head kick that misses. Johnsson wants to clinch up but Castle keeps it at a distance. Castle slips a jab and a cross from Johnsson.

Castle shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Johnsson is trying to defend but Castle finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further. We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet. Castle looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Johnsson is trying to get back to full guard. Castle is trying to control. Johnsson wants to improve his position but can't escape this time. Castle is working for a kimura but Johnsson is defending it quite comfortably.
Castle throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. Johnsson is looking for a sweep. Castle is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Castle seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Johnsson does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. Johnsson knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Castle on the ground. Johnsson is trying to stand.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Castle is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Johnsson has managed to free his arm - good work. Johnsson is looking to improve his position.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now. Castle not landing any meaningful shots this time. Castle is looking for submissions but instead, Johnsson has regained full guard.
Castle thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Castle trying to control but Johnsson is working from the bottom. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Johnsson wants to stand and escape but Castle is having none of it. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's one minute gone in the round. Johnsson stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Johnsson wants it to stay on the feet. Johnsson throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

"Ole!" shouts Johnsson as he jumps to the side. Johnsson lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Castle circles away quickly and effectively.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Johnsson throws a body punch but Castle moves out of range. Johnsson throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Castle's head. Castle staying out of range there. Castle is looking to clinch. No joy there for Johnsson, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Nice uppercut lands for Johnsson. That snapped Castle's head back.

Castle throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Johnsson's waist but Johnsson gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Castle off to one side. Johnsson tries a head kick but it misses.

Castle drops back looking for a leg! Johnsson is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Johnsson manages to kick Castle off! Castle jumps back into Johnsson's guard. John Johnsson is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Johnsson tries to clinch but Castle moves out of range. Johnsson connects with a high kick. Johnsson tries to clinch up. Castle decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. Castle has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Johnsson defend it? Castle steps over the head and cranks it - Johnsson is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Castle!
