The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Massimo feints and as Waldie raises his hands in defense, Massimo changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Massimo has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Massimo's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Waldie avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Massimo looking to sit in guard and control but Waldie gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Massimo has a closed guard, preventing Waldie from standing up.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Massimo wants to sweep here but Waldie controlling him for the moment.

Waldie gets to his feet - Massimo follows without any prompting.
Massimo tries to close the distance and clinch but Waldie swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Waldie looks to land a right hand but Massimo moved out of range.
Waldie lands a big head kick that sends Massimo to the canvas! Waldie follows up with strikes from the mount that forces the ref to step in and stop the fight!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:27 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Rodger Waldie!
