The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Butts tries to clinch

and Kurdov counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Kurdov lands a nice short elbow.

Butts pushes Kurdov off looking to stand but Kurdov dives back in and keeps control.
Kurdov throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Kurdov has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Stanimir Kurdov wasn't doing enough on the ground.
Butts looks to clinch

and Kurdov counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Butts!
Butts is looking for a sweep.
Butts is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Kurdov is controlling him well.

Kurdov has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

It looks like Seymour Butts has been cut.
Kurdov has control of an arm but Butts manages to advance to Kurdov's back!
Butts throws strikes from the back but Kurdov rolls nicely and manages to end up in full guard. Nice work by Kurdov.
Kurdov wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.

Butts is in a horrible position here. Kurdov smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.

The cut above Seymour Butts's eye is starting to cause him problems now.
Kurdov takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Seymour Butts's cut is absolute horrible now. This looks like something out of a horror film with blood covering both fighters.

The referee calls the doctor in to look at Seymour Butts's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!
