Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Josh Todd!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
6 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Brett Hatt!
The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, George Francis and Chris Downing.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Todd has managed to clinch.
Hatt is working for takedown but Todd is calmly controlling the position for now.
A nice glancing elbow lands by Todd.
Hatt tries to throw a body punch but Todd avoids it by throwing Hatt back against the cage.
Todd is pushing Hatt up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.
Hatt has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Todd regains guard immediately.
Todd looking to control.
Hatt throwing strikes but missing.
Hatt throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Todd works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Todd preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Hatt is looking to work some ground and pound but Todd has wrist control.
Hatt with a nice head shot there.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Hatt lands a couple of elbows.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Todd utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Hatt distracts Todd with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
Hatt working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Todd's head.
Hatt throws a big elbow that misses.
Hatt postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Hatt chips away with some ground and pound.
Hatt postures up from his opponent's guard, before exploding into some vicious ground and pound! Todd covers up, he's hurt! Hatt keeps throwing the strikes, glancing at the referee... Will he stop it?? One more big shot from Hatt and the ref steps in to end the fight! Hatt can't hide his delight as he celebrates with his corner.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:48 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Brett Hatt!
After the fight, Brett Hatt was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
