Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Stuart Johnson! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Rob Holmes! The judges for this bout are Colin Fotheringham, Phil Schofield and Chris Edwards.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Holmes fails with a takedown attempt. Holmes closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage. Johnson wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee. Johnson tries for a takedown but Holmes manages to get underhooks.
Johnson tries for a takedown. No joy.
Johnson has hold of one of Holmes's legs. Holmes is fighting the takedown attempt but Johnson gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard. Holmes looking for a sweep. Not yet Holmes, not yet. Johnson is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control. Holmes seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now. Johnson has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Johnson gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent. Johnson gets tackled into the cage by Holmes. Holmes maintains the clinch. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Holmes is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath.

Holmes throws a big elbow that misses. Johnson is pulling down on Holmes's head to control his posture. Holmes stays in close to Johnson's body and controls the position. Holmes passes Johnson's left leg - he's now in half guard. Johnson trying to hold on to Holmes's head to control him but Holmes postures up.
Holmes wants to advance to full mount but Johnson doesn't think that's going to happen and regains full guard instead.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Johnson looking to control.
Johnson is pulling down on Holmes's head to control his posture. Holmes decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Johnson, up you get! Holmes tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Johnson manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Johnson. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Stuart Johnson. That's going to take a lot out of him. Holmes moves in looking to clinch but Johnson pushes him off. Johnson moves into range and clinches up with Holmes. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Holmes breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Holmes looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Holmes instigates a clinch. Johnson is trying to pull guard but Holmes turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch. Johnson being controlled against the cage. Johnson's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Johnson closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage. Holmes tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Johnson avoids it. Holmes breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. A combination from Johnson does no damage. Johnson misses with a double jab.
That's four minutes gone in the round. No joy there for Holmes, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Holmes gets in close and instigates a clinch. Holmes breaks the clinch.
Johnson throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Holmes darts in and clinches Johnson up against the cage. Johnson's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Johnson shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Holmes manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Holmes not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Johnson gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent. Holmes is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Johnson closes the distance and pushes Holmes back into the cage. Johnson tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Holmes smiles and moves away.
Holmes forces Johnson back against the cage and clinches. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Stuart Johnson will probably get the nod. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Holmes stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Holmes wants it to stay on the feet. Holmes gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here. Some stalling of biblical proportions here from Holmes. Johnson throws a hook to the body. More of an arm punch but it's all scoring with the judges. Johnson is trying to trip Holmes. He has hold of a leg but Holmes is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Johnson persists though and gets the takedown into guard. Holmes keeping full guard, as Johnson tries to pass. Holmes is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Johnson wants to get up but he can't break Holmes's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here. Holmes keeping moving, preventing Johnson from controlling successfully. Johnson looking to sit in guard and control but Holmes gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
That's one minute gone in the round. Holmes decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow. Holmes tries to clinch but Johnson is having none of it. Johnson takes a kick to the side of the head. Johnson lands a head kick. Holmes smiles back at him and beckons him forward. Johnson closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Holmes to the mat! Holmes manages to get full guard. Holmes can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Johnson controls the pace. Holmes working for submissions but it's allowed Johnson to get to half guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Johnson working the head and body with strikes. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Johnson winds up and cracks Holmes with a swinging punch to the side of the head. Holmes is trying to maintain the position but Johnson is very close to passing his half guard. Johnson not doing much here.
Johnson wants to free his trapped foot but Holmes is holding on for dear life with his legs.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Johnson working Holmes over with strikes. Johnson not doing much here.
Johnson not landing any meaningful shots this time. Johnson is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there. Johnson trying to mount his opponent but Holmes defends it. Johnson looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Holmes is trying to get back to full guard. Johnson is looking to advance position but Holmes won't allow it. Johnson wants to lay and pray for a moment but Holmes keeps working. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Stuart Johnson has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet. Johnson fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Holmes to the ground. Johnson is now in Holmes's guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Holmes shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. Johnson scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground. Holmes kicks off Johnson and gets to his feet. Holmes fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Johnson avoids it really well and circles away. Johnson rushes Holmes and presses him up against the cage. Johnson wants to get back to striking at distance but Holmes won't allow it.
Johnson drags the fight down to the ground.
Johnson is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Holmes defends well. Holmes wants to control from the top but Johnson keeps moving.
That's one minute gone in the round. Johnson escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Holmes gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Holmes looking to pass the guard. Johnson managing to control the position. Johnson looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Holmes passes into side control.
Stuart Johnson overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
That's two minutes gone in the round. You can see the frustration on Johnson's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Johnson is trying to get back to his feet. Johnson defending against the ground and pound. Holmes controls the position. Johnson tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Holmes wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. Johnson struggling a bit here. Johnson sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Johnson has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Holmes is working away from the top position though. Holmes sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Johnson defending well though. Holmes is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.
Johnson is looking to control Holmes's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Johnson avoid being mounted? Johnson wants to get back to his feet.
Holmes is thwarting Johnson's attempts to control the position.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Holmes is trying to control. Johnson wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Holmes lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
Johnson closes the distance and clinches. Johnson has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Holmes is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet. Johnson tries for a takedown. No joy.
Holmes breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Stuart Johnson is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Johnson has a takedown stuffed. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Stuart Johnson. That's going to take a lot out of him. Both fighters are breathing heavily. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. No luck with that takedown attempt from Holmes. Rob Holmes has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Stuart Johnson is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Johnson defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Holmes.
And that's the end of the fight! Stuart Johnson showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Johnson, winning every round. Will the judges agree?
