0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Dispka Kiyahkaza! The judges for this bout are Chris Saunders, Jeff Smith and Josh West.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Kiyahkaza lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Romo circles away quickly and effectively. Romo stuns Kiyahkaza with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range. Romo tries to bum rush Kiyahkaza with a series of wild strikes but Kiyahkaza uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Romo misses the shot to the body. Kiyahkaza throws a head kick that misses. Romo rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Kiyahkaza moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Kiyahkaza throws the kick towards the body but Romo avoids it. Kiyahkaza misses with a kick to the body.

Kiyahkaza wants to free his trapped foot but Romo is holding on for dear life with his legs. This has been an exciting period of action! Kiyahkaza seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Romo does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Romo is controlling Kiyahkaza's trapped leg to prevent Kiyahkaza from advancing to side control. Kiyahkaza is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Romo is just riding it out for now. Kiyahkaza eventually gives up the hold. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Frank Romo will probably get the nod. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!
