Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Thomas Martyn (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Michael Stubb (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Martyn's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Live For The Moment. Stubb has chosen Paper Scratcher as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 18 - 19 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Thomas Martyn!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 17 - 24 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Michael Stubb!
The judges for this bout are , Frank Antenori and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Martyn rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Stubb moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Both fighters circling a little - Martyn finishes the exchange with a kick to the body.
Martyn throws a combination. Stubb tries to block but a couple of punches get through.


It looks like Michael Stubb has been cut.
Some wild striking there from Martyn.

Martyn leaves Stubb with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Martyn swats away the attempt to clinch by Stubb.

Martyn darts in and clinches Stubb up against the cage.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Martyn is working for takedown but Stubb is calmly controlling the position for now.

Martyn has picked Stubb up - he's going for a ride! Martyn dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.
Stubb moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Martyn is looking to work some ground and pound but Stubb has wrist control.
Martyn has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Martyn cracks Stubb with a solid left hand.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Martyn got a little sloppy there for a moment and Stubb has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Martyn has managed to get both his arms back between Stubb's legs - danger averted.
Martyn controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Martyn keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Stubb's head.
Martyn throws a big elbow that misses.

Martyn avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Stubb keeping moving, preventing Martyn from controlling successfully.

Martyn has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Stubb off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.

and Martyn moves into the clinch.

Martyn manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.

Stubb postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Martyn is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Stubb, into his guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Martyn working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Martyn stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Stubb swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Martyn is working hard here to advance position.
Martyn tries to stand but Stubb is controlling from the bottom.
Martyn tries to free his leg and advance position but Stubb is retaining full guard.
Martyn is looking to stand up but Stubb won't let him.

Stubb is looking to sinch up a triangle. Martyn throws the leg off to one side though and gets in tight to Stubb's body to avoid the submission. Stubb has instead reached around Martyn's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! Stubb arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:59 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). Michael Stubb!
