Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Melvin Cronkite (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Anthony Stokes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Cronkite comes to the cage accompanied by Croc song!. Stokes is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Kanye West - I Don't Like ft. G.O.O.D. Anthony Stokes has the eye of the tiger tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
7 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Melvin Cronkite! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Anthony Stokes! The judges for this bout are John Kavanagh, Chad Campbell and Jorge Garcia.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Cronkite dives in and scores a takedown into Stokes's guard. Cronkite looking to pass the guard. Cronkite is stalling in the full guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Cronkite throwing strikes but missing.
That's one minute gone in the round. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Cronkite accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Cronkite wants to pass the guard but Stokes is keeping the position. Cronkite sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Stokes's guard. Cronkite perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there. Cronkite seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Stokes for as long as he can get away with.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
The ref stands the fighters back up because Melvin Cronkite just wasn't active enough. Excellent takedown into side control there by Cronkite. The referee tells the fighters to keep busy. Cronkite fails to land a wild elbow strike.
Cronkite working the body and head with strikes. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Cronkite working the head with strikes. The referee asks Cronkite politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Cronkite prefers to stall for the moment though.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Cronkite's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Melvin Cronkite. Stokes missing with a left hand there. Cronkite was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one. Cronkite closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Stokes to the mat! Stokes manages to get full guard. Cronkite wants to control from the top but Stokes keeps moving. Stokes being controlled here, momentarily. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Melvin Cronkite dominated that round. That's time! Cronkite's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.
Cronkite misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Stokes swinging wildly here.
Cronkite shoots in for a takedown but Stokes shows good takedown defense. Cronkite shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Stokes manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage. He's got it locked and he's managed to free his trapped foot. Stokes tries to escape but it's on too tight and he has to tap! Great BJJ skills there from Cronkite!
