Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Yegor Matveyev (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Villov Rustakowski (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Yegor Matveyev!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Villov Rustakowski!
The judges for this bout are Aleksei Zolotukhin, Igor Prikhodko and Sergei Dronov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Matveyev shoots in but no luck this time.

Matveyev closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Rustakowski quickly recovers to half guard.
Rustakowski is looking to escape.
Matveyev is taking a breather. Rustakowski says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

Rustakowski manages to escape and get back to his feet!
Rustakowski stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Rustakowski wants it to stay on the feet.

and Matveyev counters with a nice double leg into side control. Rustakowski won't be happy with that.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Matveyev tries to advance to mount but can't.

Matveyev content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though.

Matveyev is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.
Matveyev is trying to move to mount but Rustakowski reverses beautifully and ends up in Matveyev's guard.

Matveyev is looking to stand up but Rustakowski isn't so interested in that idea.

Matveyev is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Yegor Matveyev just wasn't active enough.

and Matveyev counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Matveyev.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Rustakowski can do anything to dispel that myth.

Rustakowski wants to stand and escape but Matveyev is having none of it.

Rustakowski is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

Matveyev scrambles and gets back to his feet.
Matveyev swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Matveyev looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Rustakowski is fending him off so far but Matveyev persists. Nope, Rustakowski circles away and we're back to standing.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Yegor Matveyev. That's going to take a lot out of him.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Matveyev fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Rustakowski sprawls well initially but Matveyev persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Matveyev wants to control but Rustakowski is keeping him busy.

Matveyev shoots in for a double leg but Rustakowski sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Rustakowski is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Rustakowski wants to control but Matveyev is keeping him busy.

Rustakowski throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Matveyev was covering up waiting for the punch and Rustakowski finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Matveyev is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Rustakowski is aware though and is defending well.

Villov Rustakowski showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!


Matveyev shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Rustakowski pinned against the cage. Rustakowski gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Let's hope that Rustakowski has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Matveyev feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Matveyev can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Rustakowski controls the pace.

We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Villov Rustakowski.
Matveyev dives in and grabs Rustakowski's left leg, looking for a takedown. Rustakowski pushes down on Matveyev's head and hops out.

Rustakowski gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Matveyev stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Rustakowski swivels though and keeps the full guard.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Rustakowski has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Matveyev off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.

And that's the end of the fight!
I would just about give that final round to Villov Rustakowski.
I think Rustakowski has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
