Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 2 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Richard Skinner! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Tyrese Banks! The judges for this bout are Trevor Gratis, William Peck and Yves DeLean.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Banks bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Skinner's head backwards. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Banks. Skinner scores with a sloppy right hand. Banks should have avoided that one. Tyrese Banks seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Skinner misses with a few strikes there.
Skinner throws a nice looking combination but Banks bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Skinner swinging wildly here.
Banks throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Skinner scores with a jab to the jaw. Banks shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Skinner sprawls well. Skinner wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Banks gets slowly back to his feet. A combination from Skinner does no damage. Banks shoots for a takedown but Skinner saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. Richard Skinner has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Tyrese Banks. Skinner scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Skinner ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face. Skinner throws a nice looking combination but Banks bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Skinner takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
That's one minute gone in the round. Skinner throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Banks. Jab by Skinner. Banks slips a straight right by Skinner. Skinner slips under a jab from Banks. Banks fakes a jab and then connects with a hook. Banks dives in and scores a takedown into Skinner's guard. Banks passes easily into side control. Nice work. Skinner is pushing Banks's head away, looking to escape. Banks manages to hold on to the position though. Banks is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Skinner is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Banks tries for a kimura but Skinner is defending well. Banks is trying to get an arm triangle but Skinner is defending well.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Banks in side control, working for a kimura. He's got hold of an arm and he's torquing it... Skinner is tapping! That's the end of the fight!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:19 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Tyrese Banks! A less than humble Tyrese Banks misjudged his post fight interview somewhat and came across a little too arrogant whilst trying to hype up his own abilities.
