Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 2 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jon Snow Junior! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Walter Alexander Zelaya! The judges for this bout are Elvis Blanc, Yves DeLean and Ian Loll.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Zelaya connects with an inside leg kick. Zelaya moves in looking to clinch but Snow Junior pushes him off. Good exchange - Snow Junior coming out on top. Zelaya throws a head kick but Snow Junior moves out of range.
Zelaya goes for a high kick. It partially lands. Nice uppercut there from Snow Junior. Zelaya wants to clinch. Snow Junior looks to throw the jab but Zelaya is out of range. Snow Junior scores with a hook. Zelaya defending well as Snow Junior loads up on a big left hand. Zelaya takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
Snow Junior shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Snow Junior shoots in for a double leg but Zelaya sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Snow Junior stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Zelaya. Snow Junior shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon. Snow Junior moves into full mount! Zelaya won't be happy about that! Snow Junior is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Zelaya to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Zelaya shrugs it off. Snow Junior can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Zelaya is looking to escape.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Snow Junior controlling the pace for now. Snow Junior stands up from the dominant position, so we're back on the feet. Snow Junior connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Snow Junior is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Zelaya. Zelaya uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Snow Junior.
Snow Junior avoids a low kick by using good footwork. Snow Junior misses with a head kick.
Zelaya gets cracked there but stands up to it.
Zelaya tries to clinch up. Snow Junior checks a low kick from Zelaya. Zelaya lands with a thumping leg kick.
The fight stays on the outside here - Zelaya looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Snow Junior shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Zelaya as he avoids it easily. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jon Snow Junior. That's going to take a lot out of him. Zelaya misses the shot to the body. Zelaya misses with a double jab.
Zelaya looks to score with a jab to the body but Snow Junior is just out of range.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Snow Junior throws a head kick but Zelaya moves out of range.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Snow Junior is defended easily by Zelaya. Zelaya scores with a hook to the body. Snow Junior takes a step back and tries to catch his breath. Walter Alexander Zelaya is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Snow Junior looks to land a right hand but Zelaya moved out of range. Snow Junior misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Zelaya.
Zelaya misses with a two punch combination.
Zelaya is looking to clinch. Zelaya throws a head kick that misses. Zelaya lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Snow Junior circles away quickly and effectively. Snow Junior pushing out the jab but it's not landing. Snow Junior looks to land a right hand but Zelaya moved out of range. No luck for Snow Junior with that takedown attempt.
That's five minutes gone in the round. Snow Junior thows a leg kick but Zelaya checks it and Zelaya counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. Snow Junior is lucky that one didn't land flush. Zelaya lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise. An inside leg kick lands from Zelaya. Snow Junior throws a looping overhand right but Zelaya ducks down to avoid it. Zelaya misses with a wild body shot. Snow Junior throws a jab when Zelaya was well out of range. Zelaya leaves Snow Junior with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Snow Junior avoids a lazy jab quite easily. Zelaya missing with a left hand there. Snow Junior was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one. Snow Junior looking to score a takedown here. Zelaya is defending well but Snow Junior drives through and ends up in Zelaya's guard. Snow Junior trying to control the position from guard on top but Zelaya is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
That's six minutes gone in the round. Snow Junior throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Zelaya works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Snow Junior trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
The ref stands the fighters back up because Jon Snow Junior just wasn't active enough. Zelaya looks for the body kick but Snow Junior saw that one coming. This has been an exciting period of action! Snow Junior misses with a body shot.
Snow Junior bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. Zelaya is not content to let Snow Junior control the position. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Zelaya can do anything to dispel that myth.
That's seven minutes gone in the round. Zelaya prevents Snow Junior from moving into mount. Zelaya really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Snow Junior. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Snow Junior is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Zelaya has escaped the position, nice work there. Snow Junior wants to lay and pray for a moment but Zelaya keeps working.
That's eight minutes gone in the round. Snow Junior working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. Zelaya tries to buck Snow Junior off but Snow Junior is having none of it.
That's nine minutes gone in the round. Snow Junior has an Americana. Zelaya didn't react quickly enough there and he's in big trouble now! He tries to squirm out but is forced to tap! Snow Junior is delighted and gyrates in front of the ring girls. They seem to like the attention - it'll be interesting to see if Snow Junior hooks up with any of them at the after show party.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 9:27 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Americana). Jon Snow Junior!
