The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Takasaki throws a series of punches but Never Faulter moves out of range. Never Faulter fails with a takedown attempt. Takasaki misses with the combination.
Takasaki looks to land a combination but Never Faulter avoids it well. Takasaki throws a wild combination but nothing lands. Takasaki keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Never Faulter fails with the takedown. Akira Takasaki has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Walter Never Faulter. Takasaki misses with a wild combination.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Takasaki rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Never Faulter moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Takasaki throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Never Faulter has a nice red mark on his side after a thudding body kick by Takasaki. Takasaki misses with a two punch combination.

That's one minute gone in the round. Takasaki tries to bum rush Never Faulter with a series of wild strikes but Never Faulter uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Never Faulter feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Never Faulter wants to pass the guard but Takasaki is keeping the position. Never Faulter pushing down on Takasaki's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work. Never Faulter sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Takasaki defending well though. Takasaki is not content to let Never Faulter control the position. Takasaki could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely. Takasaki tries to roll over but Never Faulter keeps him under control. Never Faulter is trying to work for a kimura but Takasaki is defending well.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Never Faulter is thwarting Takasaki's attempts to control the position. Never Faulter wants to take a breather but Takasaki is having none of it.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Takasaki wants to get back to his feet.
Takasaki is breathing heavily. Takasaki has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Never Faulter is working away from the top position though.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Never Faulter dodges the punch combination from Takasaki.

Akira Takasaki seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Never Faulter shoots in but Takasaki avoids the takedown attempt easily. Never Faulter drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard. Takasaki trying to control the position.

Never Faulter working Takasaki over with strikes here. Takasaki is trying to stand up. Never Faulter wants to control the pace but Takasaki is squirming around nicely. Never Faulter wants to finish this one by submission but Takasaki is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Never Faulter. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Never Faulter wants to take Takasaki's back but he can't do it this time.

Takasaki is rocked! Never Faulter is working close to his opponent, looking to work a submission by the looks of things. Oh, he's managed to get a guillotine from mount as his opponent reached up! That looks tiiiiight! Will he tap? YES, he's tapped! Impressive submission by Never Faulter!
